The Garden Barn in Peterchurch is highly praised for its stunning appearance, cleanliness, and beautiful gardens. Guests appreciate the warm hospitality from hosts Pat and Johnny, as well as the thoughtful welcome hamper. The property is well-equipped and comfortable, offering a charming and characterful stay with ample space for families and pets. Its location is ideal for exploring the local area, including nearby walks and the town of Hay on Wye.

The property's location is praised for its beautiful surroundings and proximity to local attractions, though there is a suggestion for improved outdoor lighting.
Guests find the barn very comfortable, with a well-furnished interior and cosy atmosphere, although one mention of a smaller-than-expected bed and limited ventilation in some rooms slightly affects the score.
The barn is well-equipped and full of character, with a high-spec kitchen and ample space for group activities. The mention of a need for an outside light and step indicates a minor area for improvement.
The welcome hamper and hosts' helpfulness are frequently noted, showcasing their thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.
During your stay at this lovingly restored retreat, you will be living in the curtilage of a Grade I listed building, Wellbrook Manor, where carbon dating has produced a date of 1374, to the delight of the owners.
The property has been sympathetically renovated and transformed into a tasteful and comfortable accommodation for families or groups alike. Much of the accommodation is on the ground floor, with a useful hallway/boot room at the entrance and two of the four bedrooms located within the original stable area to the right. To the left is the beautiful open-plan living, kitchen and dining space. The dining table seats eight guests and the sitting room area is centred around a cosy and inviting wood burning stove. The added luxury of underfloor heating throughout the ground floor makes The Garden Barn a welcoming retreat in all seasons. From the modern and well-equipped kitchen, a beautifully crafted oak staircase leads up to the galleried landing area with feature glazed floor box, exposed beams and bedroom two with a 4'6 double bed. Guests using this bedroom have use of the ground floor family shower room. From the entrance hallway, the staircase leads up to bedroom one with its king-size bed and en-suite shower room, again bursting with character with exposed timbers throughout.
Outside in the delightful grounds, guests are invited to enjoy the maze and enclosed lavender garden, with its exquisite aroma, the perfect spot to watch the sun go down.
Situated on the outer edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and close to the Wye Valley, The Garden Barn provides the perfect base for walking and exploring the very best of Herefordshire. The market towns of Hay-on-Wye, Leominster, Hereford and Ross-on-Wye are all just a short drive from the property.

Lovely well equipped and beautiful barn with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Things to consider are that access is up a few uneven and slippery steps so our parents (in their 80s) had to be assisted. The stables bedrooms have a thin panel wall between them so zero soundproofing. The internal stairs were fine for the elderly parents. There is barely any phone signal inside the barn but there is a signal outside. WiFi is OK. There is a good shop in the village too.

A really beautiful barn conversion in the grounds of a C14th house. Very well kitted out and clean. Nice gardens to sit and relax in. A short drive to Hay on Wye

Fantastic accommodation. Full of character and history. Everything you need, nice attention to detail, and a thoughtful welcome basket upon arrival. Warm, comfy and cosy. Great for what we needed as three couples, two kids, and a dog. Recommended.
