About this property

Lea 1.8 miles. 1 White House Cottages is a character cottage set in spacious grounds, within the idyllic village of Bromsash, Herefordshire. Boasting an original cottage feel over three floors, 1 White House Cottages is a magnificent break for a family of eight and their canine companions, well-placed for exploring along the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire border. Enter into a great size kitchen where your selected head chef can impress the group with a hearty meal, assisted by a large cooker with gas hobs, whilst the rest of the group can set the dining table and light the woodburner for a cosy dinner time setting. Upstairs lies a beautiful sitting room, boasting original floorboards, high beams, and lots of windows to fill the space with natural light. On this level there are three bedrooms, a twin room, two doubles and a WC with basin each finished with natural tones and fresh linen. Up another flight of stairs leads to the apex bedroom, set up with a double bed. Step outside and make your way to the garden with decking and furniture, perfect for sipping a glass of wine with your loved ones and admiring the stunning rural countryside views. Head into the neighbouring village of Lea and discover the convenience store, where you can pick up the essentials for a week away, whilst there is an excellent country pub, The Alma Inn, resting in nearby Linton. Ross-on-Wye is a few miles away and offers an array of eateries, pubs and shops to make the most of. Outdoor enthusiasts will be in heaven, with the Malvern Hills, Symonds Yat, the Wye Valley, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons), the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds all within easy reach. Alternatively, take a trip to Gloucester to take in its majestic cathedral and visit the world-renowned docks, where you can wander through the cobbled alleys and explore the city's rich history. Whether you’re looking for a tranquil escape or an action-packed adventure, a stay at 1 White House Cottages offers something for everyone.

The thriving village of Lea lies on the northern edge of the Royal Forest of Dean, surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside, and offers a village shop and petrol station, whilst further amenities lie in Gorsely, including a Post Office and community store. Both the Gloucestershire Way and Wysis Way pass close to the village and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this stunning part of the country offers many activities and attractions, including numerous trails that can be enjoyed on foot, by horseback or by bicycle, as well as a high wire rope course, abseiling, caving and kayaking. The less adventurous can enjoy a day’s fishing on the River Wye or golf at one of the nearby courses. The historic market town of Ross-on-Wye, overlooking a loop in the River Wye, is just a short drive away and offers many amenities as does the waterfront city of Gloucester where you will find Roman foundations, Victorian docklands and a stunning Norman cathedral (whose cloisters were used in the Harry Potter films). Goodrich is a short drive away and boasts a perfect example of a 12th century Marcher castle or guests can enjoy a day trip to the Black Mountains, Hay-on-Wye and the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park.

The house is absolutely gorgeous and was spotlessly clean. The owners are really friendly and helpful and even bought our daughter a little Easter treat which was very kind! This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was so cosy and has beautiful views - great that is also dog friendly so we were able to take our black lab too. Thanks Lyn & Dave for a great stay! Highly recommend this cottage.

We enjoyed the walks along the sculpture trail and the town and country walk from Ross on Wye. We also took several walks along the river Wye. The cottage was clean and warm, so much so that we switched off the radiators in the bedrooms. Nice to have two log burners as well. We struggled to find the keys for the shed and the patio until we discovered them under the sink, might be worth a mention to holidaymakers, where to find these. Nice that pets are allowed at this lovely cottage, which meant that my family could come with their dog for a couple of days. Thank you Lyn and Dave for letting out this property.
