Guests say

Doward Farm is a characterful and quirky farmhouse with ample space for large gatherings. It offers a well-equipped kitchen, cosy bedrooms, and is situated in a beautiful countryside location with walking trails nearby. The property's charm and the surrounding natural beauty are frequently praised, making it a memorable place for family and friend get-togethers.

Several reviews mention the need for a deeper clean, noting cobwebs, grime, and a general sense of grubbiness. While the main areas and linen seem well-attended to, the overall cleanliness could be improved.

The property is consistently lauded for its excellent location in the Wye Valley, with easy access to beautiful walks, local pubs, and attractions like caves and a rope bridge. The countryside setting is appreciated for its privacy and tranquillity.

Guests find the farmhouse comfortable, with cosy bedrooms and a warm atmosphere. However, some mention that communal spaces are not sufficient for the number of guests the property can accommodate, and the seating areas are limited.

The property is well-equipped for large parties, especially the kitchen, but there are concerns about maintenance and safety due to exposed nails, abandoned vehicles, and peeling bath paint. The charm and character of the property are noted, but there is a clear need for tidying and some renovation.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

A great place for a celebration with friends and family. Comfortable and cosy, warm as toast, comfy beds and lovely walks from the door so you don't have to drive anywhere unless you want to. Ok, the farmhouse could with some cosmetic tidying and a bit more of a clean but that might be at the expense of its fabulous charm and quirkiness. We all loved our stay and hope to return one day.

We had a great stay here over New Year. We were a group of friends- 6 adults and 9 children ranging in ages from 2-10. We were greeted by Mark who was welcoming and friendly. Marion showed us around the cottage and gave us a very comprehensive guide to how things worked and where to find everything. The kitchen was well equipped and set up well for catering for large numbers. Plenty of baking trays and large pots and pans, utensils and serving dishes. Large range cooker and also an electric oven. 2 fridges and a decent amount of freezer space. We did an online food shop from Asda who delivered to the cottage. There were two living spaces which was helpful for providing different areas for different groups. The dining room table sat us comfortably and on a day we had day visitors we did manage to squeeze 15 around it. Bedrooms were well configured for our group with younger children able to share with parents in the double and single rooms and the twin rooms allowing for flexibility for the rest of the group. The cottage was quirky and there were aspects that were a little worn in places- mainly the carpets. Wasn’t a problem for us, but if you have younger children who would be crawling then this might be an issue. We enjoyed a walk to Arthur’s Cave and a day trip into Ross on Wye. Overall a great stay!
