Doward Farm is a characterful and quirky farmhouse with a well-equipped kitchen and ample parking, set in a beautiful countryside location ideal for walking. It offers a cosy atmosphere and is particularly suited for large gatherings, with a spacious dining area. The property's charm and value for money are appreciated by guests, despite some noting the need for a deep clean and maintenance.
Guests have noted that while the main areas appear tidy, a deeper clean is needed. Cobwebs, grime, and a distinct smell were mentioned, suggesting that cleanliness could be significantly improved.
The property's location is highly praised for its countryside setting and proximity to walking trails and forest parks. The Wye Valley and nearby attractions add to the appeal.
The farmhouse is described as cosy and comfortable, with good heating and hot water. However, the limited size of communal spaces for larger groups slightly impacts the comfort level.
While the kitchen is well-stocked and the dining area is spacious, guests have raised concerns about safety due to abandoned vehicles and general disrepair. Maintenance issues need addressing.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

you get what you pay for, plus some! look its one of the cheapest properties for its size, but its quirky and fun, its right up from symonds yat with beautiful walks straight out the property. yes its a little worn but we loved the feel of the place, some many random quirky designs! Overall for what you pay its a great place and we'll certainly come again!

I went away for a weekend with my partner and 14 of my closest friends to celebrate my 65th birthday. All of us loved staying there. We thought it very comfortable and well equipped and it was a perfect place for us all to get together. There was loads of parking (there were eight or nine cars) we all liked our bedrooms and there was plenty of space in the kitchen for those who were preparing meals and the dining room table was masive and all 16 of us were able to sit down together to eat. We are definitely going to return.

Let’s be clear. You get what you pay for. This property offers a low price compared to many other properties catering for similar numbers. What you get for that price is a characterful farmhouse, good size bedrooms, a log fire in the sitting room and a well stocked kitchen with equipment and crockery to suit a large gathering. The sitting room wasn’t big enough to seat all 15 of us, but it was perfect for 8 adults while the kids spread out across the house playing hide and seek. They never sit still anyway.Outside, there’s parking for around five vehicles and you get a countryside location with walking and forest parks nearby. Yes, the décor is old and the furnishings faded, but its quirky and fun. The only negative which is easily fixed, is the place needs a deep clean. On the surface it looked good enough, there’d clearly been a wipe round and tidy up, but there are plenty of cobwebs in corners and kitchen cupboards and grime on window ledges and tiles - we felt the need to clean the kitchens and bathroom more thoroughly before using. For what we paid, it provided handy accommodation for four families at our annual get together and we had a great time. If you’re a property snob, though, give it a miss and pay more elsewhere.
