About this property

A large group of people need a spacious property, and Hollytree House is ideal. This large holiday home is on the River Wye, close to Symonds Yat and within walking distance of three popular pubs including The Saracens Head which you can reach via a hand-pulled ferry across the river. With nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, there is easily enough space for up to 22 guests to sleep in comfort, while the peaceful location at the end of a quiet lane means you won't be disturbed by passing traffic. Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are both within easy reach, with nearby activities including hiking, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, whitewater rafting and sightseeing.

Hollytree House is the sort of place where everyone from your granny to your goldfish will feel welcome. The house, which can comfortably accommodate up from 12 to 22 people in nine bedrooms and is child and pet-friendly, is in a fantastic location in the beautiful Wye Valley. With three pubs within walking distance, including The Saracens Head which is accessed via a hand-pulled ferry, this is the perfect self-catering choice for a holiday with your family and friends.

For somewhere so peaceful, Hollytree House is pleasantly easy to reach, being only a short drive from the A40 carriageway that runs between Monmouth and Ross. The house sits at the end of a private lane and is surrounded by quiet woodland where children can explore and play away from traffic. You will hear birds and the burbling of the nearby river, but certainly no noisy traffic or neighbours!

Monmouth is a fantastic market town with lots of shops, cafes and amenities that include a leisure centre. It is also the birthplace of Henry V and the site of the only fortified bridge left standing in Britain so history buffs will love it! Ross-on-Wye is also good for shopping and eating out. Both towns are a gentle 10-15 minute drive from the house, taking you through the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The River Wye curves around Symonds Yat and there are miles of stunning walks in the area that lead to breathtaking views of the Herefordshire countryside and the Black Mountains, over which you may be lucky enough to see local peregrine falcons swooping. Symonds Yat is also an excellent area for climbing and cycling, with the nearby Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons offering a further choice of trails for all abilities. The Wye Valley is ideal for fishing, kayaking and whitewater rafting and numerous local operators will be happy to provide tuition, equipment and guides should you need some assistance.

Goodrich Castle is just one of many medieval fortresses within a several mile radius of Hollytree House. Others include Raglan, Wilton, White and Skenfrith Castles. Being so close to the Welsh border means you are never far from the ruins of a tower or castle and if you love ancient buildings then you will enjoy visiting Llanthony Abbey, Tintern Abbey and Hereford Cathedral. Other attractions for a day out include Puzzlewood, The Amazing Hedge Puzzle, the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, forest adventure and high rope courses at Go Ape, the Dean Forest Railway and the Lydney Roman Temple site.

It can be challenging to keep everyone in a large group happy on holiday, but that is not a problem when you stay at Hollytree House as there are lots of sights and activities to suit all ages, tastes and abilities.
