Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage receives consistent commendation for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its immaculate condition. This suggests a high standard of hygiene and attention to detail.

The central location in Much Wenlock is frequently mentioned as convenient and desirable, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. The quietness despite the central location is also appreciated.

The comfort of the cottage is generally praised, especially the large comfy bed and peaceful environment. However, a few guests noted the sofa bed was not very comfortable, slightly impacting the score.

Facilities are well-regarded, particularly the well-equipped kitchen and enclosed garden. Some guests noted the lack of a freezer and minor kitchen utensils, which suggests room for improvement.

While some guests mention receiving a warm welcome and gifts such as eggs and marmalade upon arrival, there are not enough references to consistently assess the level of thoughtfulness across all reviews. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts are a standard offering for all guests.

About this property

This stone cottage is situated in the town of Much Wenlock, a glorious old market town in the heart of Shropshire countryside. Tucked away to the back of the owner's property, this hideaway is suited for couples wanting to truly escape from the hustle and bustle, a peaceful destination for two. Following the plant sheltered walkway to the entrance, you will immediately feel the layers of charm, setting the scene before you even step inside. Compact yet inspiring, Wash House Cottage commences with a dining room laid out for four people, your little place to settle down for a mornings breakfast or refreshments after a unique adventure. The cream-coloured kitchen rests beyond, housing everything you need on a day to day basis, with four steps taking you up to the sitting room, with a large TV and WiiFi. Simplistic yet carrying a traditional feel, this room is ideal for embracing the peace and quiet come evening, perhaps cosying up with a good book. Afterwards, the twin bedroom is a characterful place to enjoy a restful night's sleep, a lovely set-up under the eaves, with a Velux window and down-lighters above with it's own en-suite shower room. A small desk and TV are on the way in. Attuned to the cottage decor, a second shower room is a pleasant addition to the interior. What better way to start the next morning than with a warm cup of tea out in the patio area? A lovely spot surrounded by exposed brickwork, and intertwining flowers. Above the town rises the 15-mile-long Wenlock Edge, showcasing views and excellent walking, cycling, and riding. Nearby are the wonderful medieval towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, the World Heritage Centre of Ironbridge with nine museums and Blists Hill Victorian Village, plus the amazing Wroxeter Roman City. A friendly cottage in a delightful location.

Much Wenlock is a market town that has been around for 700 years. The town offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants along twisting streets and black and white half-timbered buildings. With the 15 mile long Wenlock Edge there is plenty of walking, cycling and riding to be done here. Nearby are other towns including Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Ludlow.

The cottage is perfect comfortable, in a great location & has everything you could need. Lyn & Billy welcomed us when we arrived & helped us settle in. We find it a great base to explore the county plus it is right in the middle of Much Wenlock so great for going to the Talbot in the evening which is well worth a visit. Thank you Lyn & Billy for another lovely week.

There is a very nice entrance way filled with flowers and plants. We were met by the owner who showed us how everything worked which was a nice touch. The stove worked well. Unfortunately there was no freezer compartment in the frig so we couldn’t make ice cubes. The cottage is located on several levels, so it was nice to have two bathrooms. The bed was a large size with a comfortable mattress. The shower was hot. The heating system worked well. There was an outside patio which we enjoyed on sunny days. There was no welcome basket. Be prepared to bring everything - there was no tea or coffee supplied, not even salt and pepper! Only two rolls of toilet paper were supplied for the week. The cottage is centrally located in town. Much Wenlock was a great town for walking and we really enjoyed our week here.

Bed very comfortable. Electric heaters were good. Outside covered area useful for wet hiking boots. Our dog loved the small enclosed yard areas. Handy for town/amenities. Easy parking. WiFi great. Good supply of tourist leaflets. Nice area. Lots of nice cafés and pubs in town, plus a lovely ruined priory. Good local walks from the doorstep. Also near Ironbridge. A few cushions in the lounge would help comfort. One standard shower (with adjustable/detachable head) would be better than two rain showers. Noise from adjacent pie shop? almost every morning 3-5am wasn't great, not recommended for light sleepers. Overall, commendable!
