About this property
Church Stretton 7 miles. A superb semi-detached barn conversion, set on a working farm, in the peaceful village of Stapleton. Refurbished to a very high standard, this spacious and charming property retains a wealth of original character, including a woodburner and exposed beams throughout. The spacious, well equipped kitchen with dining area leads down 3 stone steps to a hallway featuring a wonderful oak staircase. The lovely master bedroom offers open access to the gallery and boasts a four poster bed. The charming towns of Shrewsbury and Church Stretton are within easy reach.
This huge hill is topped by a moorland plateau of heather and rocks and broken on the eastern side by a series of hollows or "batches". This is a popular walking area - ideal for exploring the Shropshire Hills. Church Stretton is the first town in Shropshire to receive Walkers Welcome status. Walkers Welcome towns are places which have something special to offer for walkers more than simply being a fantastic place to come an enjoy the great outdoors. The town also holds its own annual Walking Festival in June. In the Carding Mill Valley, there is a thriving antiques centre with over 60 stalls. This is open every day and nearby Acton Scott Historic Farm will give you a taste of 19th Century farming. There are attractions to suit every age and taste in this region, from the Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom to the historic Dudmaston Hall.

Spent a wonderful week exploring the Shropshire hills and surrounds. Met the hosts and enjoyed a farming chat. Didn't have time for the tour round the farm but maybe next time. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

I have two children, both of ages where these types of activities would be very well suited, especially right on your door step. There was some dissatisfaction to find that part of the area was being used by sheep. Donât get me wrong, the property is situated on a working farm, and I have no problems with farm animals using the facilities, when required but when itâs obvious the place has been used to store animals for some time and the use of the games facilities appears to be now an after thought, the equipment is now a shadow of its former self from what was portrayed in photos. The holiday cottage was a good size for our family. The location was suitable to go off and explore. The cottage had more than enough items to make your stay comfortable, such as kitchen utensils, however some of the cleanliness was questionable. A very useful DAB radio in the kitchen, however on the front of it, the buttons and dials were grubby from constant use of dirty fingers etc. a wipe over by me and sorted. Quite a few cob webs hanging down the side of kitchen units and other areas etc. a dust down by me and sorted. The main bathroom had a broken toilet flush handle which was held on by tape but regardless kept coming off most times. The shower head handle had the same tape holding things together. The en-suite bathroom shower kept leaking and it was obvious that a few attempts had been made to rectify this by the large amounts of mastic around the shower tray. In the end the en suite was abandoned for the use of the main bathroom shower. The owner advised in the cottage details to bring towels etc, however I wasnât aware I needed to bring my own hand wash/soap. Off to the local shop to buy some for less than a £1. Surely, thatâs something that should be found in bathrooms in a holiday cottage? The small pool table on the landing was an added bonus within the cottage, kept the children quiet for a little while, however, again itâs seen better days with various repairs made to the felt table lining. In all, itâs the little things that collectively add up to make the bigger picture and when youâre staying in a holiday cottage for a family vacation itâs these little things that make a difference. The cottage could do with a bit of a touch up to make the stay a bit more warming. Despite some disappointments there were some plus sides. The oven was clean, probably one of the cleanest Iâve experienced within a holiday cottage. A nice touch was being met with some home made cake and milk in the fridge by the owner on our first day. The little court yard was an ideal space to sit and enjoy that cup of tea, and generally the cottage was in good order. I may have been picky in my summarising, but I canât help but feel that when youâre spending a good amount of money on a holiday stay these things should be right.

There were a few annoying details, including blinds which didn't fully work, windows that were broken (I stayed during a heatwave so these things were essential) and some grubby corners in the kitchen and lounge. Spacious living areas and a comfortable double bed downstairs were most welcome.
