Shrewsbury is a historic market town in the county of Shropshire, situated in the West Midlands and just 9 miles east of the Welsh border. The town was originally a settlement upon the River Severn, and its largely unaltered medieval street plan makes it a wonderful place to enjoy a cottage holiday with family or friends. Shropshire has over 650 listed buildings, including the famous Shrewsbury Castle that is well worth a visit if you are planning a spontaneous getaway.
The biggest attraction in town is the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show. Hosted over two days each year in August, the horticultural event is one of the largest and oldest in the UK. 100,000 visitors make the trip every summer, will you this year for your Big Cottages break? If you can't make the show then at least enjoy the wonderful flower displays that the town is famous for throughout the spring and summer months. Shrewsbury is a historic town with plenty of art, history and great restaurants to keep you entertained, and will be a fantastic choice for your trip.
