The little house is in a nice location, so we were pleased when we pulled up into the allocated parking space. The small private outdoor area was neatly kept and had a bbq and a ridiculously small hot tub and 2 hard chairs (no comfortable seating). When walking into the property we noticed an unpleasant smell, which, when we opened the bathroom door became overwhelming. It was a very strong sewage smell. The property is serviced by a septic tank, so I don’t know if there was an issue with that, or some other plumbing issue, but it was a very over-powering smell. We closed the door and hoped that the smell wouldn’t linger, but sitting downstairs on the very tiny upright two seater sofa next to the bathroom door was far from comfortable, so we decided to move upstairs to the bedroom to try to escape the smell. However, the smell was still strong upstairs. After struggling to get onto the bed, which is no easy task due to it’s position under a low sloping ceiling, after a few minutes we heard a scratching noise, which we could only conclude was coming from the wall cavity. The scratching was intermittent, but after a short while we decided that we could not stay in the property due to the very offensive smell and then the scratching noise. Overall, the property appeared to be clean and well equipped to be fair to the owners, but we were very disappointed by their response to our concerns. On reflection, we wished we had asked the owners to come over to the property whilst we were still there, so that they could not have denied the problems existed, which is unfortunately what they then did the following day. We didn’t see the point of calling them over at the time because these were issues that they would not have been able to rectify there and then. But, with the benefit of hindsight, would have made it impossible for them then to deny. This was supposed to be a relaxing weekend to celebrate my partner’s birthday, so it was extremely disappointing, even more so because of the owner’s response. I note from other reviews that there has been no mention of a bad smell, or hearing scratching, but this was most definitely our experience and I definitely would not recommend this property.

Excellent location to visit Shropshire. House is small but perfectly laid out and provides everything needed for a short stay. Very well equipped kitchen which is a rare thing! Little garden area was lovely and great for our dog to potter around. Bed was very comfortable. There is no washing machine in the property but it would have been handy to have a rotary washing line in the garden(which could be collapsed when not in use) to hang wet towels or handwashing. Would definitely recommend this property.

The accommodation was easy to find, exceptionally clean and very well presented. The welcome pack is a nice touch and the Hot Tub was lovely and easy to use. We would have given 5/5 but for the upstairs ceiling height, it is very low and the only way to get in and out of bed is either on your hands and knees or by bending over.
