Guests say

Guests are charmed by the quaint and beautifully decorated Number 7 cottage, appreciating its cleanliness, comfort, and proximity to local attractions in Ironbridge. The property's location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area, with friendly locals and good amenities nearby. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many expressing a desire to return.

The cottage is consistently described as clean and tidy, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. One review mentions a smell of dampness, but this appears to be an isolated comment.

The location is praised for being excellent, with easy access to pubs, shops, and museums. It's within walking distance to Ironbridge and has a friendly atmosphere, making it a perfect base for exploration.

Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere. However, some guests noted steep stairs and high beds which may not suit everyone.

Facilities are generally good with well-equipped kitchens and multiple TVs. Some reviews, however, point out the lack of a hairdryer, oven gloves, and a non-operational log burner, suggesting room for improvement.

While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The Industrial Revolution was ushered in at Ironbridge Gorge, which is well-known on a global scale. Today, the region is hardly industrial, and the majority of the former industrial sites have been reclaimed by nature, leaving a distinctive and lovely wooded valley. The gorge is now a network of footpaths, bridleways, and rural lanes, and the charming settlement is well-known for being the location of the first iron-built bridge in the world, constructed between 1777 and 1779. The Ironbridge Museums Trust, which includes the fascinating Blists Hill Victorian Village, is a group of eleven museums with industrial and Victorian themes that are spread across the village. Popular historic towns like Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, and Ludlow, as well as the Wroxeter Roman City, the Severn Valley Railway, the RAF Cosford Museum, and other National Trust properties, are all easily accessible by car. The picturesque county of Shropshire may be explored from a great starting point at Ironbridge.

The cottage was very comfortable. It would have been handy to have a couple of small saucepans in the kitchen. I did not find a visitors book or any leaflets of attractions in the surrounding area which would have been nice, although you can look things up on your phone. A lovely stay even with the wet weather.

The location is perfect - a short walk away from lovely pubs, some great museums, and 10/10 fish and chips. There’s no washing machine (the listing is clear about this) but we can recommend Dawley Laundrette which was great. It would’ve been useful to have some cleaning supplies, extra bin bags, and a couple of extra dishwasher tablets.

It was clean and tidy inside and the beds were really comfortable. There was ample kitchen utensils and appliances in the kitchen. Areas for improvement could include; The cooker hob took a little while to figure out without any instructions, leading us to have to google how to operate it. There was a definite underlying smell of damp in the downstairs WC with noticeable mould spores on the peeling paint. The upstairs bathroom had a damp smell too. It would have also been good to have control over the bathroom radiators as having to leave damp towels hanging around only added to the overall damp smell. There is no outside area to hang towels if it is sunny so they stayed damp throughout the week. It would have been useful to have a lamp in the sitting areas at night instead of the wall lights as these reflected onto the TV screen. We enjoyed our stay here and liked the cottage and its location but wouldn’t stay again due to the dampness.
