The Wild Cherry Tree Retreat is a charming and stylish cottage in a fantastic location for exploring Ironbridge and Shropshire. Guests praise its characterful interiors, comfortable living spaces, and peaceful setting. The property is well-suited for those seeking a quirky, cosy stay close to local attractions. However, access involves steep steps and low ceilings, making it less suitable for guests with mobility issues. Some reviews mention areas for improvement in cleanliness, kitchen equipment, and maintenance, but the hosts are noted for being responsive and helpful. Overall, the cottage offers a memorable and enjoyable base for a visit to the area.
Several guests found the cottage clean and homely, but a notable number reported issues such as insufficient cleaning, dirty kitchenware, and unkempt outdoor areas. While some praised the general tidiness, others highlighted missed details and the need for more thorough cleaning between stays.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to Ironbridge, museums, and local walks. Guests appreciated the peaceful setting and easy access to the town centre, with roadside parking generally available. The only drawbacks mentioned were the steep access and busy road.
Most guests found the cottage comfortable, with cosy living areas and comfy beds. However, some noted issues with worn or creaky mattresses, low ceilings, and awkward layouts, particularly for taller guests or those with mobility concerns.
The cottage is well-equipped for short stays, but several guests found the kitchen lacking in basic utensils and found the layout awkward. Maintenance issues such as broken locks, wobbly taps, and insufficient outdoor furniture were also mentioned. The property is otherwise well-presented and functional.
Hosts are described as responsive and helpful, providing information packs and answering queries promptly. While some guests appreciated personal touches and stylish decor, there is no mention of guaranteed gifts. The attention to guest needs is generally good, though some felt more could be done to enhance the experience.

It clearly hasnt had a good clean for a long time. The walkway down and the garden are covered in leaves and unkempt. All the lights hanging down and broken. Leaves and old strawberries all over the decking. We arrived to a filthy door mat and cloth in the sink. There was hardly any washing up liquid all hand soaps were nearly empty and had been watered down. A coffee machine with no pods. A jar of pods that dont fit that were reported back in reviews last year not yet removed. Someone elses sock under the bed plus an old sweet. A dogs ball and sweet behind the sofa. Broken Glas on the kitchen floor - not from us. in the littlest room the trundle bed is not fit for use. The main bed squeaks everytime you move and the put up bed has mising or failing slats. There is a bedside lamp on the floor no bed side table. Better 2 proper singles ? There are hardly any utensils in the kitchen. A dustpan with no brush. No toilet roll holder Disappointed with property but great location.
