Rose Cottage is a charming property with a mix of positive experiences, praised for its location, character, and thoughtful touches like a welcome basket. While some guests found it to be a comfortable, well-equipped home-away-from-home, others noted areas needing improvement, particularly in cleanliness and maintenance.
Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with several guests reporting issues such as unclean bathrooms, dirty ovens, and dusty rooms, suggesting inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the town centre, peaceful setting, and easy access to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests appreciating the cozy fire, comfy beds, and spaciousness. However, some noted low ceilings and inadequate lighting, slightly affecting the score.
Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and outdoor amenities, but feedback indicates a need for maintenance and updates, particularly in the bathroom and kitchen appliances.
Thoughtfulness is evident in the provision of welcome items such as tea, coffee, and jams. However, it's important to note that these gifts, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is in a lovely area with plenty of interesting things to do close by. We felt fortunate to have found such a lovely place to stay and would love to return one day.

The bedroom had a dirty paint flaking window which had someone's cotton buds on the sill. The built in cupboard meant for storing clothes was too horrible to use. The shower in the bathroom was very small and relied on a shower curtain. It was so unappealing that we avoided using it until we really had no alternative. The fridge constantly froze our food , so we had o throw away things we stored in it as they were frost damaged beyond use. The oven was so horribly dirty we avoided using it at all. Thick black cobwebs surrounded both fires and seeral lightfittings. Externally the windows were filthy and internally didn't seem to have been cleaned for ages.

A few games were also provided. The village setting is nice and there is a good outdoor space which was ideal for the hot period we stayed there. The owners were very helpful too. We'll happily stay there again if we return to the area.
