Stay in this unique location at this delightfully quirky cottage in the valley of Snaizeholme, famous for its red squirrels (a fact featured in an episode of ’Celebrity Mastermind’). Red squirrels abound at this cottage, along with roe deer, numerous colourful birdlife and the occasional otter. An ideal location for nature lovers and walkers.
A relaxing and comfortable stay awaits you at Red Squirrel Haven. The open plan living space is perfect for socializing and spending quality time with family or friends in the large living room with wood burner, through to a dining area with a farmhouse table, kitchen with wooden units and integrated appliances. There is also a bathroom and utility room. The kitchen leads to a conservatory with seating, an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee and watch the squirrels feeding and playing. Food for them and the birds is supplied to keep them visiting. Patio doors lead out onto a large, decked area with a table and chairs and an enclosed paddock/garden ideal for those bringing dogs. There are two double bedrooms, each its own staircase. One with an adjacent shower room and landing, the other with windows overlooking the garden.
While you will undoubtedly be enchanted by the peacefulness of this remote location, there are plenty of attractions nearby. The nearby market town of Hawes is just a short drive away and boasts an array of local shops, cafés, and restaurants. The Wensleydale Creamery, home of the famous Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, is also located in Hawes and offers tours and tastings for cheese enthusiasts. Other attractions in the area include the Aysgarth Falls, Hardraw Force Waterfall, and Bolton Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. For those looking for a more active holiday, the area also offers great opportunities for walking, cycling, and fishing. This charming barn conversion in Wensleydale offers the perfect blend of peace and tranquillity, coupled with easy access to nearby attractions. Pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Peaceful and very relaxing. The red squirrels are so entertaining. A very quiet week that was exactly what we needed. Stone built so wonderfully cool during all the heat.

We have stayed at This property before and whilst it’s not perfect, the red squirrels and its position in the wood are amazing.There are 2 sets of stairs in the property and one has very narrow treads. There is no sign warning you of this so please be careful. My niece fell down them after putting her daughter to bed and has # her ankle.We also had a leak during some heavy rain and were soaked whilst sleeping . The owner was not helpful and after first offering a discount on a future holiday then accused us of leaving the bedroom windows open to explain the wet bed. Also accusing us of other wrongdoings in the property.

What a wonderful holiday we’ve had. Comfy, clean, warm, well equipped and the best part was seeing the red squirrels close by. One even ate out of my hand - best Christmas present ever ! Perfect.
