About this property

The Old Manse, situated in the historic market town of Middleham is an exceptional example of a Grade II listed property dating back to the 18th century. Offering eight guests, four beautifully presented bedrooms, each with the luxury of their very own en suite bath or shower room, complimented by views of Middleham Castle, The Old Manse makes for the perfect family holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

Guests enter via the welcoming reception hall, immediately giving an indication of the tasteful accommodation and period features on offer whilst enjoying time spent with those closest to you. Benefiting from ground floor underfloor heating, each room leading off to either the right or left is light and spacious; the sitting room gives guests the opportunity to all relax in front of the period stone fire surround with wood burning stove and Samsung art frame television, whilst the open plan dining kitchen is the heart of The Old Manse, with ample space for all guests to enjoy an evening at the dining table. To the rear of the hallway is a very useful utility and boot room, just before you head out into the walled garden.

The original staircase leads to a half landing with feature window which enjoys views over the rear garden and Middleham Castle. The first floor landing leads to both bedrooms three and four whilst bedrooms one and two can be found on the second floor via the split landing. Bedroom three houses, a 6' super-king size bed (can also be converted into twin beds), a dressing room and en suite bathroom. The remaining three bedrooms each offer a 5' king-size bed, en suite and views either over towards the castle or the upper market square.

To the rear, a fully enclosed garden can be enjoyed throughout the warmer months with comfortable seating for eights guests, patio and barbecue, perfect for alfresco dining. Should guests seek to leave the apron strings at home, wander down into the town and spend the evening at one of the many pubs serving local fayre. As many will know, Middleham, is famous for its racehorses and trainers, so for those enthusiasts don't hesitate and take a morning walk up onto the top moor for a sneak peek at morning training before venturing out for the day.

Incredible location just to the edge of the town centre, a minute walk from the local pubs and yet very tranquil. The house itself is stunning, with plenty of space for a group of 4 couples, each with their own bathroom, which is an unusual luxury! The garden is perfect, with a lawned area to relax, decking with plenty of seating and big table to dine Al fresco, and surrounded by high walls it feels secluded with views of the castle, a real sun trap and wet had a brilliant BBQ all together. So many walks from the doorstep or within a short drive. Past the Castle and long the River, up to the unique gallops surrounded by unparalleled views and endless thoroughbred horses. Leyburn Shawl is really easy and great short walk too. Tip - the fresh fish truck in Leyburn On market day was immense and great value for truly fresh fish. And Campbells grocery also in Leyburn has absolutely everything, the veg is superb and the butchers one of the best we’ve found…. sausages - boom!! We were looked after for a bday lunch at the Wensleydale Heifer, omg, wow!! And Richard 3rd in the centre serves the most delicious pies ever!!! Thanks for a 5*+ stay, our whole family group loved our time there :-)
