The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Close to all the amenities we needed. It was fantastically equipped and very comfortable with the addition of Christmas Dec's. The views from the back bedroom were amazing as were the local walks. We enjoyed the quirky servants bells, which became a family joke. The only thing that wasn't catered for was tea towels but this may have been an oversight and easily rectified. Would definitely stay again, fantastic.

It’s also perfectly situated for Reeth & many walks around. I would just like to say that the hot water was very hot & would worry about children using it. Also we would have liked a small pan for egg boiling.

Felt really at home. Bathrooms were a bit cold, the heaters weren't on, and the bedroom I slept in, the heater wasn't working. It's usually OK this time of year, but was an unusually cold week. Reeth itself is fantastic. We can recommend The Buck Inn. Lovely food and very friendly. Also The Copper Kettle. Good food, coffee and friendly staff. Great bakery too. Great area for walks.
