We stayed in this cottage for a week and found it to be a lovely place with plenty of room and a good layout. It has a lot of potential and could be a fantastic place to stay.Unfortunately, the main issues were cleanliness, maintenance, and general upkeep. On arrival, there was recycling left in the front of the garden by the gate, the plates and cutlery needed washing before use, and the bins were already full. There was no clear information about bin collection days. We reported the full bins to Cottages.com, who look after this property, and the advice we were given was to put the rest of our rubbish into secure bin liners, which was not ideal. We were initially given the wrong bin day, so I had to check online myself, and later the owner came round with the correct times. There also seems to be a lack of attention to maintenance. There was quite a bit of damage, including broken handles and ironmongery. In the visitors’ book, there are comments about broken items going back over two years, such as a lamp with only two pins, and these issues are still unresolved. This gives the impression that guest feedback is not being acted upon. The cottage includes a snug, but unfortunately it was unusable as it was extremely cold. There was also a duvet left in there without a cover, and it was unclear whether this had been left by mistake or was meant to be part of the room’s setup. In addition, one of the bedrooms had no secondary glazing, which made it noticeably cold.We always make a point of cleaning a cottage before we leave, but there were no cleaning products provided at all, which made this difficult. The welcome pack was also very basic and disappointing, consisting only of a few broken biscuits along with tea and coffee.Overall, it is a lovely cottage, but it would benefit greatly from better cleaning, improved maintenance, and more attention to the feedback left by previous guests. With more care, it could be a really excellent place to stay.

I must admit, I booked this cottage before I read the reviews and some of the negative comments had me worried. But I’m glad to say they were wrong! What a stunning cottage this is, beautifully decorated and well looked after - my family loved it! The beds are comfortable, the 2 family bathrooms upstairs are ideal for larger families and there is a bonus of a downstairs toilet. Our pet Labrador loved roaming in the back garden, it’s huge! Just be careful for the fox poo if you are taking your dog! The cottage itself is away from the main road but in an ideal location to access the local village, 2 pubs, local shop and a couple of takeaways. We also visited Dalby Forest which is about a 5-10 minute drive up the road, beautiful place. All in all, a perfect week. We will definitely book to stay in this cottage again.

It’s my 5th visit to the Ridings and it was good to see that some of the previous issues have been rectified. The kitchen is probably where more work is needed to bring it up to a standard expected in a holiday cottage. Despite everything, the cottage is clean, warm and comfortable, the garden is great for the dog as it is big and secure.Lots of lovely walks from the cottage, the village has everything you would need and it is easy to reach all the surrounding villages, towns, sea and moors. Will definite back soon
