The Ridings is a spacious cottage with a large garden and ample parking, set in a picturesque village near Pickering. Guests appreciate its great location and have enjoyed their stays, often rebooking for future visits. While the property is generally well-received, there are recurring mentions of maintenance issues that need addressing.
The property is mostly clean, but there are reports of stained sofas and carpets needing cleaning. The overflowing waste bin and rotting plums in the driveway suggest occasional lapses in cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and proximity to local attractions, such as Thornton le Dale and the steam train to Whitby.
The cottage is described as spacious and cosy, with large bedrooms and a secure garden. However, the lack of comfortable outdoor seating is noted as a minor negative.
Facilities are adequate, with hot showers and sufficient toilets for a party of six. However, maintenance issues like broken dishwashers, door handles, and insufficient glassware detract from the overall experience.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Great weekend in a lovely spacious but cosy cottage. 3 toilets which was brilliant for our party of six. Showers were hot and walk in was huge. All bedrooms are generously proportioned. Some minor tlc would make accommodation excellent. So good we've already booked for next year. Thornton le dale is beautiful and so close to Pickering to catch steam train to whitby

This is a fabulous cottage in a great location, however a few things let it down. The kitchen worktops could do with some attention, the carpets down stairs are in need of cleaning as well as the stains on one of the sofas! This was an issue when we last stayed but does not seem to be rectified. With so many outhouses surely one could be set aside for a secure bike storage shed. The house is fantastic but is in need of some love. Sadly, not sure if we will return in the future!
