Seadrift Cottage in Filey is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like smart TV and leisure facilities. The property is ideal for family stays and offers a cosy, home-like atmosphere. Despite a single negative review, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests planning to return.
Guests consistently mention the spotless condition of Seadrift upon arrival, highlighting its cleanliness as a standout feature. The property is well-maintained, with several reviews specifically commending the level of cleanliness.
The location is frequently praised for its proximity to local amenities, the beach, and leisure facilities. It is described as ideal for exploring the Yorkshire coastline, contributing to its high rating.
Comfort is a recurring theme in the reviews, with guests finding the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy and snug. The well-furnished and decorated interiors contribute to the overall comfort of the stay.
Facilities such as the swimming pool, pub, cafe, and shop are mentioned positively. However, one review cited an issue with the property being habitable, and another mentioned a lack of a drier, slightly lowering the score.
Several reviews note the thoughtful touches provided by the owners, such as pre-arrival contact, smart TV apps, and the provision of tea, coffee, and milk. While these gestures are appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.
This lovely, end-terrace cottage is situated on The Bay, a prestigious holiday village, 3 miles from the traditional seaside town of Filey. A glorious Blue Flag sandy beach is just a short, enjoyable walk away, providing 5 miles of golden sands to play on, build sandcastles on and to paddle in the sea. Seadrift is a welcoming home-away-from-home, perfect for couples and families wishing to enjoy the Yorkshire coast and extensive on-site facilities. The comfortable interior has a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen, a downstairs toilet, and a light and airy lounge/dining room. Cosy evenings can be spent snuggling up on the sumptuous leather sofa by the bay windows. The TV and DVD player stand on a cabinet containing local information and equipment instructions. French doors by the dining area can be opened up to the rear patio, which is an ideal spot to relax with a coffee and watch the world go by. Upstairs are two peaceful bedrooms, promising a good night’s sleep. The attractive double bedroom has fitted wardrobes, whereas the second bedroom has double and one single bed. There is a family bathroom with walk in shower. Stepping outside the cottage you are greeted by the quaint ‘fishing village’ style houses, set in communal gardens, with meadowland and a lake nearby. Seadrift is in a quiet location, but benefits from the convenience of being close to the amenities offered by The Bay, such as a pub and pharmacy. Also close at hand are the heated indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room, sauna and gym (which are free to use for guests at Seadrift using the leisure pass provided.) Other facilities are available at The Bay, for an extra charge, paid locally, including beauty rooms, fitness classes, tennis, archery, scuba diving lessons, fishing and bike hire. If you can tear yourself away from The Bay holiday village, it is a lovely walk along the beach (tides permitting), to Filey, with its old world charm, where there are quirky shops, places to eat, the promenade, and terraces to sit with views of the sea and the bright flowers in the ornamental gardens. To the North lies Filey Brigg- why not try a bit of rock pooling here? Further afield is the busier town of Scarborough where you can embrace more family fun such as the Alpamare Waterpark. To the south, Bempton RSPB nature reserve is marvellous for bird lovers, with nesting seabirds, including Puffins, on the chalk cliffs. Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks, and boat trips, leading round to the resort of Bridlington.
Primrose Valley is a delightful village set in the East Riding of Yorkshire, just 3 miles from Filey. The village is home to a number of convenience stores and vibrant pubs, as well as a sandy beach with stunning seascapes. Filey offers exciting museums, lots of local eateries and a beautiful beach. Take the children to meet the adorable ponies and incredible alpaca at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park or spend the day at Playdale Farm Park. Head to the poopular resort of Scarborough and travel back in time at the Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum to see the steam-powered Victorian fairground and admire the display of classical cars and vintage motorbikes. Primrose Valley is a great base for exploring the East Riding of Yorkshire.
