La Rochelle is a well-received holiday cottage in Whitby, praised for its cleanliness, well-equipped nature, and thoughtful touches such as gifts for children and pets. The property boasts a secure garden, convenient location, and ample parking. While some guests suggest improvements in comfort and maintenance, the overall experience is positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The majority of guests found La Rochelle to be clean and tidy, with only a few isolated comments about minor cleanliness issues. The consistent mention of cleanliness suggests a high standard is typically maintained.

The property's location is generally well-regarded, with its proximity to local amenities, the town centre, and the beach being appreciated. However, some guests noted it was a bit of a walk to the town, affecting the score slightly.

Comfort received mixed reviews; while some guests found the property comfortable and the beds adequate, others mentioned dated and uncomfortable furniture, suggesting room for improvement.

Facilities are mostly praised for being well-equipped, especially the kitchen. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the need for new windows, better garden access, and minor repairs, leading to a slightly reduced score.

Guests frequently appreciated the thoughtful touches, including Easter eggs for children and provisions for pets. While these gestures are highly valued, it is noted that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.

The facilities are reasonable and it was very clean. I would recommend taking some dish washing supplies. We arrived to find no washing up liquid, sponges, clothes or dishwasher tablets to wash any dirty dishes. Luckily there is a lldl very near by so it didn't cause much of a problem just a bit disappointed that nothing was provided. If you are taking a dog then please be aware that there is no access to the rear of the bungalow. There is only one entrance to the property, so if you need the garden you need to go around the side of the bungalow and through a side gate. So if you have a dog that is a bit flighty then its put them on a lead and walk them round. This was ok and we were aware at the time of booking the property but the week we were there the weather was awful and it became a bit of challange letting the dog have a last relief before bedtime. I would say that the bungalow iis more than 20 mins to Whitby Town Centre and its about 40 mins to Sandsend, longer if you are walking along the beach. Both Towns are lovely to visit. Whitby offers an excellent bus service so nowhere is really very far if you don't mind the bus. There is a pub about 15 mins away, Dog friendly and does some really good food so if you don't want the trek to town then we recommend this place. On a big plus side, the owners are very accommodating if you have any problems. I would recommend that they update their information folder especially recycling information, we had to go on the council website to find out when and what also, some cleaning equipment would be nice. We couldn't find anything other than a hand brush to sweep around the property following our stay.

We had no issues with heating. The location was fantastic for us. We were able to walk everywhere. The bungalow was clean tidy and had most utensils. We did buy a cafeteria as we had brought with us ground coffee. There was a coffee machine but the local Lidl didn't have the correct pods for us to use the machine. Having a Lidl at the end of theb road was very useful. I think prior notice of the type of pods would be useful, however, there was plenty of sachet coffee tea hot chooclate and biscuits left out for us. Our dog even got a pack of treats which was thoughtful. We ve never been to Whitby before and we loved it. Lovely pubs nearby and the information in the folder was very useful. We would love to come back. Kind regards the Thomas family and Zuma.
