Guests say

The Goat Shed is a charming, spacious and cosy cottage set in a peaceful countryside location near Whitby and the coast. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities, making it an ideal base for exploring the North York Moors and nearby seaside towns. The property is especially popular with dog owners due to its enclosed garden and dog field. While a few guests noted minor issues such as limited welcome provisions and occasional maintenance points, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return and highly recommending the cottage.

Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with numerous guests describing the cottage as spotlessly clean, tidy, and well maintained. Only rare minor comments were made, such as a lack of hand soap or a small number of toilet rolls, but these did not detract from the overall impression.

The location is widely praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and proximity to Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, and the North York Moors. Guests appreciate the peaceful rural setting and easy access to walking and cycling routes, though a few noted the need to drive to local pubs or shops.

Guests consistently mention the cottage’s warmth, cosiness, and especially the comfort of the king-size bed. The property is described as spacious for two, with restful nights and a homely atmosphere, even during winter stays.

The cottage is described as well equipped, with all necessary kitchen utensils and a good shower. Some guests noted the absence of a washing machine, DVD player, or dishwasher, and a few minor maintenance suggestions (e.g., shower design, garden fencing), but overall facilities are highly rated.

While guests appreciate the friendly and welcoming hosts, several mention the lack of a welcome pack or basic provisions such as milk, hand soap, or sufficient toilet roll. Some guests suggest that a small welcome pack would enhance the experience, but please note that such gifts are not guaranteed.

It was a great base for us to explore the area and a lovely place to come back to each evening. Really glad we picked to stay at this cottage

The cottage had all the facilities we needed and we was lovely and warm on a cold weekend. The only problem was the loss of the internet. Normally this would not bother us but our daughter in law is seriously ill and we were on stand by to look after our grandchildren. Our neighbour had turned off the router and left us without any internet. Perhaps a note near the router would prevent this happening again. Once again thank you.
