We loved our stay at Normandby House. It’s beautifully decorated, beds are comfortable and shower is powerful. The hosts were very generous. We really hope to come back one day.

We stayed at Normanby House over Christmas and had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, the house felt welcoming, festive, and perfect for a family getaway.One of the standout features is the fantastic sociable layout. The through kitchen, dining, and living space worked brilliantly for Christmas. It meant we could cook, eat, and relax together without feeling separated, which really added to the experience. The living space was cosy and ideal for our large party.The bedrooms were lovely, comfortable, and well laid out, and the whole house was immaculately clean. A real highlight was the goodies hamper on arrival, a thoughtful touch, especially the delicious bakes from Bothams’ just round the corner.It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into making Normanby House a great place to stay. By no means are these complaints, but a few small areas for improvement:The top bathroom doesn’t have a shower attachment, despite being advertised, which would be useful to address.The kitchen could benefit from a bit more serving and food-prep equipment, particularly for larger or festive meals.A mirror in the top-floor double bedroom would be a helpful addition.Overall, Normanby House was a fantastic place to spend Christmas, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located, and thoughtfully presented home in Whitby.

We had a lovely stay with our extended family at Normanby House in the first weekend of new year. Spread across 3 floors, our group of 6 adults, 2 children and one dog had plenty of space across the maisonette to spread out and relax. We particularly liked the big table where we could all be seated comfortably for meals and the super king sized beds. My daughter loved the animal lamps and artwork as well as the very well stocked games cupboard. The house is well located next to a nice little high street of bakery, newsagent-come-book-and-toy-store, organic food shop, bars and cafes as well as the famous whale bones. Our hosts were warm and very welcoming whilst also leaving us to it.The maisonette has more skylights than windows and with respect to this and how it’s tucked away down a side street, there are no real views of Whitby; conversely this makes the space very private and cozy when it’s stormy outside. All-in-all we felt very lucky to find such a lovely space that could fit our young families in, alongside being dog friendly and in great condition. We will happily recommend this place to friends and will remember fondly our wintry new year at the seaside.
