Seastar is a well-liked cottage in Whitby, praised for its cleanliness, stylish decor, and prime location. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings and the high standard of the bathroom. While some minor maintenance issues and limited parking are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests willing to return.
The property is generally described as clean and tidy, with specific compliments on its cleanliness. However, one review mentioned a smell of animals and uncleanliness, slightly lowering the score.
The location is highly praised for being central and within walking distance to Whitby harbour. It is described as a quiet, friendly street, contributing to a positive experience.
Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of comfy beds and a cosy lounge. Some concerns about seating for six people and a cold dining room slightly affect the score.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and stylish bathroom. However, several maintenance issues like peeling paint, a wobbly dining table, and a non-working dishwasher have been reported.
There is no sufficient information on thoughtfulness such as gifts or special touches provided by the hosts, so this score cannot be accurately assessed.

Lovely house, set over three floors, comfortable and clean. Could do with some more kitchen utensils and parking is limited.

On this occasion I have come away feeling let down, I am sorry to say. The house smelt of animals and unclean, we couldnât leave the back door open as the yard smelt really strongly of urine, we tried to clean it. The dining table couldnât be used when 1 plate on it it wobbled and with it being glass didnât want to chance it falling off. There is visible damp on the main bedroom wall in the corner of the room, there was a wardrobe door handle on the floor. The bathroom has a towel rail hanging off, In the loft room the window doesnât shut securely so I didnât want to leave my 8 year old up there, the curtains where hanging down with no way of shutting them as hooks are missing. I thought with this being a family property there should have been a washing machine also, and Wi-Fi was really bad, unable to watch any television as this was really glitchy, if we hadnât taken our own fire stick we would have been unable to watch a thing. As I said we have had lovely cottages through Sykes and they have always been our go to. I donât feel this lives up to standards of previous cottages yet this one is one of the more expensive ones we have stayed in, really disappointed sorry. I would not recommend this cottage. Such a shame as the pictures on line are beautiful.
