Stoker's Rest in Whitby is highly praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the modern amenities, proximity to local attractions, and thoughtful touches like a welcome basket. The cottage's view of the Abbey and passing steam trains adds to its charm. While there is a minor mention of creaky floorboards and a towel rail issue, these do not detract from the overall positive experience.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as very clean and well-presented, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is frequently highlighted as ideal, with easy access to the town centre, attractions, and beautiful views, contributing to a high score.
Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of comfortable beds and furnishings, although there is a single comment about an uncomfortable settee for shorter guests.
Facilities are generally praised as excellent and well-equipped. A minor issue with a towel rail and a suggestion for a bathroom grab rail slightly affect the score.
The welcome basket and unexpected extras like a travel cot and high chair are mentioned positively, showing thoughtfulness. However, it is noted that such gifts are a delightful surprise and not guaranteed.

Everything we needed was provided for, the cottage was very well equipped. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Stokers Rest is in a excellent location. We would love to stay again.

Clean, warm and welcoming with all the facilities you could need, it was a home from home. We know Whitby well and chose it for its location with views of the the Esk, the Abbey and, of course, the railway just beyond the patio. It was handy too for the train, the buses, the taxis, the shops and just a short walk to the centre of the town along the Esk. We have no hesitation in recommending Stokerâs Rest.
