The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast.

It was clean and fairly comfortable. Shower was amazing and we enjoyed the hot tub when it was hot, it would have been nice to have more info about it as a couple of the evenings it was just warm. It would have been nice to have leaflets/ information regarding the local area ie places to visit/ walks etc. also bus timetables and places you could get to. The kitchen could do with more dishes/ cutlery so you don't have to put the dishwasher on every day. Also, the picture of the welcome pack on the website shows more than what you get. We ate at the The Royal Hotel in Runswick Bay twice which we would highly recommend, also the Cod and Lobster in Staithes, excellent pie. All in all we had a lovely week.

Highly recommend for a relaxing get away. Perfect location for bay and coastal walks with a welcoming pub 1 minute walk away, serving homemade delicious food. We hope to be back soon.

The lodge itself was perfect and in an excellent location, with great local amenities, including an excellent pub nearby. The pub also does most of its menu as takeout, which we found very convenient. I would recommend the lodge and it is already booked for 7 nights next year.
