Guests say

Belfrey House is a characterful and quirky cottage praised for its exceptional central location in York, ideal for exploring the city. Guests appreciate its historical charm, spaciousness for groups, and the welcoming touch of a basket full of goodies. While some guests mention the need for TLC and a more thorough clean, the unique experience and convenience largely outweigh these concerns.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property clean and comfortable, while others noted it could benefit from a more thorough cleaning, with specific mention of issues with pests and dust. The overall sentiment suggests room for improvement.

The location of Belfrey House is consistently lauded as superb, central, and perfect for accessing York's attractions. Its proximity to the Minster and city centre makes it an ideal base for exploration, contributing to high satisfaction among guests.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and full of character, with ample space for groups. However, some guests mention the challenges posed by steep, uneven stairs and single-glazed windows, which may affect the comfort level for some visitors.

The property is well-equipped for a pleasant stay, with mentions of a well-stocked kitchen and lovely decorations. However, guests have noted some maintenance issues, such as broken lights and the absence of WiFi, suggesting that the facilities could be enhanced.

Many guests were delighted by the thoughtful welcome basket provided upon arrival, which added a special touch to their stay. However, it's important to note that such gestures, while appreciated, may not be a consistent offering for all future guests.

Warm, comfortable, historic accommodation in a top location right next to the Minster. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Cooked a Christmas dinner for 6+. Kitchen well equipped with air fryer etc. but short on crockery and scales and hob light and extractor broken. Lack of facilities for recycling was a disappointment.

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was a fun and extremely convenient place to stay. If I am back with a group I would stay again. thank you!

A wonderful location less than 100 metres from the Minster with a great history. Another couple of hundred metres turning right from the front door and you are in the hustle and bustle of old York. There are several flights of stairs that are winding and uneven, especially the ones to the attic bedrooms so please take extra care when ascending and descending. The host, Andrew, was extremely approachable and helpful. All six of us had a most enjoyable week, our ages ranging from 74 years to 13. Perfect.
