Huggate is the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds, being around 558ft above sea level, and boasts the deepest well in England at 339ft! There are great walks and cycle routes through the surrounding picturesque countryside including Millington Pastures and Wood. The popular village pub serves food, and is just a short stroll from the cottage.
Places of interest include Burnby Hall Gardens and famous water lilies at Pocklington, just 7 miles away, the Yorkshire Air Museum, Eden Camp and the stately homes of Burton Agnes Hall and Sledmere House, all provide interesting days out. The market town of Beverley, the historic city of York and the east coastal resorts are all within a 30-minute drive. Fishing available 10 miles away (licence required).

This is an exceptionally clean, well equipped and comfortable property where we enjoyed a very relaxing winter break. There's not a lot to do in the immediate location, although there are some pleasant walks and we highly recommend the restaurant at the Wolds Inn. A little further away, the Field House Coffee Barn does a nice breakfast, but wrap up warm as it's cold inside. The villagers we met were pleasant and friendly, and a very nice lady we bumped into while looking round the village church told us all about the building and kindly let our little grandson help her ring the church bell. Most days out involved a return journey of over 40 miles but we enjoyed visits to York, Beverley, Driffield, and Fraisthorpe Beech south of Bridlington. We highly recommend the Weaning Shed and would definitely stay again if visiting this part of Yorkshire.

Delighted to have stayed in this beautiful cottage. It was comfy, cosy, clean, quiet, beautifully decorated and very well stocked. Our 2 dogs and us really enjoyed our stay here. The enclosed space for the dogs to run around in and the adjoining field were very helpful for our stay. We will definitely be back 😊.

Had a great Christmas here, was decorated really well with lots of nice Christmas touches , the perfect stay with lovely walks on the doorstep and a cosy fire to relax by in the evening. Very dog friendly, warm and comfortable .
