  Absolutely fabulous house! The kitchen was very well stocked for preparing a Christmas Dinner. Lots of large pots and pans. We had taken some of our own as we have stayed in other large properties who don't always provide enough kitchen pots and trays but we didn't use ours! The weather was wet but there were games in the house that we could use (including air hockey) as well as table tennis in the garage, although the view itself from the sun room kept us entertained and we used this room a lot. Very warm house even in cold temperatures and the wood burner wasn't needed every night as it was well insulated. In fact on a couple of occasions we had to open some of the windows to let air in, even with the heating off as it got too warm for us. Great sociable space for 3 generations. My parents are in their 80's and whilst the house is set over 4 floors, the stairs weren't a full staircase height with 8 or 9 steps each from memory, very wide and had bannisters so all manageable for my parents. It's very spacious but having the different floors with different bedrooms / games rooms / kitchen enabled the family to split out into our own spaces rather than being in the same space all the time. The village itself is very small but the local pub (The Anchor) was very welcoming and we ate there a few times. Location is right on the Solway Coast with the coastal path accessible from the bottom of the garden. Would definitely recommend!

  Perfektes Ferienhaus für uns fünf Erwachsene bei jedem Wetter im März. Genügend Raum und ein besonders vielfältiges Freizeitangebot für jedermanns, bzw. jederfraus individuelle Bedürfnisse - TV mit Netflix, X -Box, Wii, Spielesammlung, Tischtennis, Kicker, vielfältige Ausflugstipps,. Der Komfort der Sitzgelegenheiten und Betten waren erstklassig. Bei Anreise fanden wir als überraschendes Willkommen einen Präsentkorb voller Leckereien vor. Im Dunklen angekommen, überwältigte die Aussicht uns am darauf folgenden Morgen. Mit einer Tasse Tee und einem guten Buch im Stressless Sessel am Panoramafenster sitzend genossen wir entspannte Stunden. Lange Spaziergänge im Wald und am Ufer in der direkten und Ausflugsfahrten in die weitere Umgebung machten jeden Tag zu einem Erlebnis. Wettertechnisch hatten wir von allem etwas, oft an ein und demselben Tag. Zwiebellook mit Regenkleidung erwies sich bei unseren täglichen Outdooraktivitäten als durchaus praktisch. Der gesamte Aufenthalt war für uns alle erholsam und nach einer Woche viel zu schnell vorüber.

  We had a lovely holiday with family and friends in this beautiful house. It has a real wow factor because of the views, the space, comfort and luxury. We had the main bedroom which, apart from the lovely ensuite and large dressing room, had fabulous views (without being overlooked) revealed by opening the electric curtains remotely without even having to get out of bed! The house is very well equipped, including many indoor activities such as table tennis, pool and multiple TVs, but as the weather was perfect all week we spent most of our time out of doors. It's a very pretty area with lots of scenery, walks, nature and beaches. The village has 2 popular pubs and a cafe and with a car there are lots of things to do in the area. The design of this house allows views from many rooms, but it does mean there are a lot of stairs and so this might be difficult for anyone with mobility difficulties. We loved our stay here and would be more than happy to return.

  Braesyde is a beautiful house in a lovely area of Scotland. We enjoyed the wonderful and constantly changing views over the water to the distant hills from the comfortably furnished sunroom, and also from the decadent luxury of the bedrooms, complere with remote controlled curtains! The children enjoyed the games room and PlayStation, and the table tennis in the garage was a great addition. We had lovely walks, rounders on the beach at Rockcliffe, golf, segway rides, fishing and birdwatching, laser tag battles and water slides. We came away after our week with just as long a list of things we didn't have time to do. Great accommodation in a great place! Oops, almost forgot, the booking process through Discovery Scotland was smooth and efficient, and owner Stuart very helpful indeed. All in all, would highly recommend.

  On arrival everything seemed fine. The following morning however we discovered we were sharing the cottage with mice who made their presence quite obvious with mouse dropping over the kitchen floor and inside the kitchen cupboards. This also explained why our dog had woken us up during the night wanting to get into the kitchen. The little pests had torn through the wrapper of my unopened twix bar and had a good old nibble of it. Owner was notified and suggested putting traps and poison down which we declined as we had the dog with us. Luckily neither of us were afraid of mice .. We did leave a day early not because of the mice but we found the mattress on the bed so uncomfortable resulting in back ache it's appreciated that this could be a personal preference but it did effect our stay.
