The house is large, which is why we booked it and situated in a lovely village with very good local amenities. However, the house was not clean. I had to wash out the fridge before using it, there were dirty oven trays left in the oven, the microwave had food stains, and the kitchen sink was grubby and needed bleaching.I contacted the owner to point these issues out and also that both double beds needed to be changed, there were hairs on the sheets, linen was smelly and the pillows were old and smelly. The housekeeper came round on a Saturday night to change the beds which was much appreciated, but couldn't do anything about the pillows without the owner agreeing. I messaged him, requesting new pillows and haven't heard back. The house could be really lovely, but needs some TLC and attention to detail.

Our week stay here was very enjoyable. Two adults and two children aged 6 and 2. The property offered everything we needed. Plenty of space to move around indoors. The garden was not really appropriate for our two year old so we didn’t spend any time in the garden. The upstairs shower was a pleasure to use. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The only negatives of the property are the downstairs bathroom could do with a non slip floor, being the bathroom with a bath that children would use. The floor is very slippery when wet. A non slip in bath mat would be helpful too. The glass in the downstairs internal doors is a bit of a worry with an excited toddler running around. The location is great with plenty to keep a family busy. We would visit again.

good comfortable cottage well equipped and located for a stay in Dumfries and Galloway. Most locations can be easily driven to within an hour. The village was reasonably quiet in March but shops etc were all open.
