Nature lovers and walkers can explore the Machars Peninsula, a haven for wildlife, with the nearby Monreith Beach (2 miles) providing a great spot for glimpsing seals and otters. Heading inland, highlights include Whithorn, Scotland’s earliest Christian settlement, the Drumtroddan Standing Stones and the Galloway Astronomy Centre, all within 8 miles. Heading north you can explore the ruins of Glenluce Abbey (15 miles) or sample the local produce at the popular Bladnoch Distillery and Visitor Centre (9.5 miles).
