Peaceful is a well-appointed pet-friendly caravan resting on the outskirts of Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway. Ideal for families, this abode boasts an open-plan layout, beach proximity, stunning countryside views and is near Galloway Forest Park. Park the car and admire the stunning views as you approach your new coastal abode. Upon entering, you will be met with a bright and spacious open-plan living space consisting of a well-equipped kitchen and a welcoming sitting area. Pop any treats in the fridge or freezer, then fire up the hobs to create a delicious home-cooked meal. Slide open the patio doors and dine alfresco with a stunning view stretching out ahead.
After plates are cleared, head to the sitting area and pick a spot on the sofa and flick on the TV to catch up on your shows. Enjoy the golden hues of sunset on the decking area, plan the adventures ahead and toast underneath the stars in the evening. When your eyes begin to tire, head to the shower room to freshen up, then choose from two bedrooms to rejuvenate for the night. On offer there is a compact twin room or a double with the added benefit of an en-suite WC, sink into the sheets and drift away. In the morning, enjoy a brew with a view before heading out and exploring all Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.
Lace up your shoes and take a walk along the coast to visit the remains of Dunskey Castle, a 12th-century ruin that is perched on a cliff, offering sensational views of the ocean. Take a drive to admire the nature within Logan Botanic Garden, be inspired in the walled garden, keep an eye out for red squirrels or pheasants, then enjoy a slice of cake in the tea room. For a quaint day out, take a trip to Port Logan Fish Pond, and learn about the history of this pond from the informative hosts, view the local sealife from Startfish to Turbot.
After the beauty of Dumfries and Galloway has been discovered head back to Peaceful and soak in the breath-taking countryside views from the decking.
Stranraer, which became a Burgh of Barony in 1596 and a Royal Burgh in 1617, lies on the shores of Loch Ryan on the northern side of the isthmus joining the Rhins of Galloway to the mainland. There are many shops and cafes to while away an hour or two and the Stranraer Town Trail explains some of the fascinating history. For walkers, the Southern Upland Way touches Stranraer on its way through the Galloway Hills, having begun in Portpatrick, 7 miles to the west. Three nearby gardens are open to the public and well worth a visit at Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan and Logan. Stranraer has several beaches, however it is worth travelling to Sandhead and New England Bay for wonderful sandy beaches. A short drive south and you come to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s southernmost point. The lighthouse on the headland looks over some of the last remaining sections of natural coastal habitat on the Galloway coast and an rspb nature reserve has been set up to retain this spectacular and diverse area.
