Lodge 17 is a wonderful single-storey lodge at the end of the row with a magnificent view across the river and over to Ben Lawers, set just outside the popular tourist town of Aberfeldy, Perthshire. This lodge is the perfect base for families and friends to soak up the rural tranquillity and get out and about amongst the great outdoors. You will find Strathtay Lodge Park 1.2 miles east of Aberfeldy, with wonderful views out across the River Tay and the Strathtay Valley. Cross the threshold into the lodge and let the beauty of the surrounding countryside wash over you from the large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glen, with an open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and sitting area, creating the ideal atmosphere for socialising with your loved ones. For those warmer summer evenings, step out onto the private front decking area and admire the views over a glass of wine, the perfect spot to relax and unwind. When the stars begin to appear overhead, retreat to one of three lovely bedrooms; a double and a twin offer flexible sleeping arrangements for the group, while the king-size bedroom boasts an en-suite shower room, where you can unwind and complete your evening routine with ease. There is a separate family bathroom with bath to soak away your cares after a day of exploring. In the morning, head out into the local area to discover all your nearest amenities in the town of Aberfeldy, which has three pubs, several good restaurants and coffee shops, a good-sized Co-op, and a butcher's shop. The Birks cinema is a great evening out showing blockbuster movies, as well as local productions and live music events during the summer months. Walk the famous Birks of Aberfeldy, and take in the waterfalls and trails. Over the road from the lodge park is Beyond Adventure where you can hire a bike, experience white water rafting, or hire a kayak to paddle down the River Tay. 7.5 miles away in the little village of Kenmore you will find the head of Loch Tay with its pebble beach and opportunities to paddle or swim , or take a paddleboard or motor boat and explore the wild open water 3.5 miles over General Wades Bridge discover Castle Menzies a spectacular 16th-century castle. A further half-mile down the road, take a Highland safari and get up close to the Red Deer and other native species. If you are feeling energetic bag a Munroe Ben Lawers, Beinn Ghlas and Schiehallion are all close by. Allow yourself to be captivated by the beauty of Aberfeldy, Perth and Kinross, from the tranquillity of the Cairngorms National Park to the vibrancy of the nearby cities. The market town of Aberfeldy stands on the River Tay amidst beautiful scenery in rural Perthshire. Famous for its association with Burns and his poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy, the bridge built for General Wade in 1733 and, more recently, The Hills of Aberfeldy by Ed Sheeran, the town is just south of Glen Lyon, known as the longest, loneliest, and loveliest glen in Scotland. There is much to attract the visitor in addition to the spectacular scenery. For example, a 10 mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as numerous paths through forest and countryside. Furthermore, Aberfeldy is on the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is an exhilarating way to enjoy the scenery and zip wiring, quad biking and bungee jumping are available in nearby Killiekrankie. Castle Menzies is a wonderful 16th century castle, now fully restored and open to visitors. Take a distillery tour at Dewar’s World of Whisky on the edge of town. Sample the many bars, restaurants and cafes in the town and explore the galleries and craft shops. Visit The Highland Chocolatier in the nearby village of Grandtully to enjoy world class chocolate created by a local master. The Scottish Crannog Centre offers a glimpse into Iron Age life and Loch Tay offers a multitude of watersports, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are on your doorstep. Within an easy hours drive there are over 30 Munros, just waiting to be 'bagged'!
