I booked the Royal Dornoch cottage for a recent wedding at Trump Turnberry.We as a family were disappointed in the cottage. There was obvious lack of maintenance ie: kitchen unit door hanging off, scratched paintwork, frayed carpets on stairs and at entry to upstairs bedroom, this is a trip hazard. While the bathroom, bed linen and towels were clean there were areas that had not been dusted recently, large cobweb above dining table, dirty microwave plate and remnants of drink material on glasses. While the plates, cups, saucers etc were matching there was a mixture of glasses and not a complete set. On our first morning while preparing breakfast we noticed ants on the work surface and floor.At this point I approached Reception in the hotel and they were understanding of my concerns. We were moved to an alternative cottage and offered assistance, which we accepted, to help move our clothes, food, etc. The second cottage was much cleaner, seemed better equipped and had something simple like a dressing table with mirror which 1st cottage did not have. This made a difference while we were all preparing for the wedding.The setting of the cottages are lovely, opposite the club house and surrounding area and gardens were very well maintained. Because of the problems with the 1st cottage I do not think it is 5 star luxury accommodation and for the price I paid do not consider it value for money.To finish on a positive note the hotel staff were excellent and did their utmost to help/resolve the problems we encountered.
