Welcome to The Retreat, a cherished family home since 2006. Over the years, The Retreat has seen children grow, hosted music festivals and weddings, and welcomed hundreds of campers. Recently, we’ve lovingly renovated The Retreat to create a spacious and characterful escape within the tranquil grounds of the historic Glanrannell Park estate, in the heart of the Carmarthenshire countryside.

Sleeping up to 15 guests, The Retreat is perfect for family gatherings, special occasions, or simply enjoying time together in a peaceful rural setting. Inside, you’ll find six beautiful en-suite bedrooms, a ground-floor cloakroom with two WCs, a relaxing drawing room, a magnificent kitchen and dining area, and a modern utility room.

Step outside to your private courtyard, complete with a covered pergola—affectionately known as “the cwtch”—featuring an outdoor heater, comfortable seating, festoon lighting, an outdoor WC, a BBQ area, and a dining space. It’s the ideal spot to unwind and soak up the atmosphere well into the evening.

Beyond your private grounds, you’ll have access to a serene lake with paddle boards and a rowing boat, or you can simply relax in the warmth of the lakeside hot tub. For those seeking more adventure, enjoy river activities or spend time feeding the pigs and peafowl. On rainy days, the games room—with table tennis, darts, and air hockey—offers plenty of entertainment.

The town of Carmarthen overlooks the banks of the River Tywi and boasts the ruins of a Norman castle, the site of a Roman amphitheatre, a museum containing Roman relics and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. Carmarthenshire is known as the ‘Garden of Wales’, whose beautiful coast and countryside provides the perfect backdrop for a wide range of activities. There is excellent walking, cycling, birdwatching, fishing and golf available, as well as many country parks, show caves, gold mines, steam railways and castles to visit. Enjoy day trips to the golden sandy beaches and rocky coves of beautiful Carmarthen Bay, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park or the majestic Black Mountains.
