Glanrafon Isaf is a spacious and well-located cottage, ideal for large groups and families seeking a peaceful countryside retreat near Caernarfon. Guests consistently praise the beautiful rural setting, ample space, and suitability for gatherings. The property offers good value and a welcoming atmosphere, with some guests noting thoughtful touches from the host. While the cottage is comfortable and well-equipped, several reviews mention that cleanliness and maintenance could be improved. Overall, it is a popular choice for those prioritising space, location, and a relaxed environment.
Cleanliness is a recurring concern, with multiple guests reporting cobwebs, dust, dirty kitchenware, and bathrooms needing attention. Some mention mouse droppings and mould, while others found the property acceptably clean. The overall impression is that a deep clean and more consistent upkeep are needed.
The location is highly praised for its peaceful countryside setting, proximity to Caernarfon and local attractions, and beautiful views of fields with horses and cows. Some mention road noise and a narrow, overgrown drive, but these are minor compared to the overall positive feedback.
Guests find the cottage spacious, warm, and comfortable, with plenty of bedrooms and living space for large groups. The beds are generally described as comfortable, and the property is well-suited for families and gatherings. Some minor issues with bedding quality and attic room heat are noted.
Facilities are generally good, with modern appliances, ample space, and useful amenities. However, some guests report maintenance issues such as broken washing machine dials, limited cutlery, slow WiFi, and tired furniture. The annexe and outdoor space are appreciated, but a few areas would benefit from updates.
Several guests mention thoughtful touches such as wine, Welsh cakes, and biscuits on arrival, as well as a responsive host. However, as these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should not expect them as standard.

This holiday home lies close to the town of Caernarfon and there is much to see in the area, including mighty Caernarfon Castle, the Galeri Arts Centre or take a trip on a steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway to Beddgelert. Children will also love Caernarfon’s Fun Centre (Yr Hwylfan), and Gypsy Wood Park in nearby Bontnewydd. It is also just a short journey to the Isle of Anglesey with its spectacular 125 miles of coastline and fascinating places to visit such as Beaumaris with its Edward I castle, Red Wharf Bay and the beautiful and leafy Newborough Forest. In the other direction is Snowdon which, at 3,560ft, is the highest mountain in Wales. A more relaxing way than climbing to the top is to take the train to the visitor centre at the summit - on a clear day the views are spectacular! The Victorian town of Llandudno, Llanberis and picturesque Betws-y-Coed are all within easy reach.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage for my in laws 70ths. The cottage itself is in a lovely rural location surrounded by fields of cows and beautiful horses. The cottage itself is spacious and very nice. However is in need of a deep clean and update. The beds, bedding and towels were all clean and fresh, the bathrooms are in need of the moudly seals revamping and the kitchen area needs a good clean and revamp. The cob webs are a decorative feature 😬

We had booked Glanrafon Isaf for a family holiday, as the layout of the bedrooms etc suited our needs. However , on arrival we were massively disappointed. We all had our cars scratched on the approach lane , which is very narrow, with bramble hedges either side very overgrown, and finding the outside of the barn ,so scruffy, with dead plants in pots, and rubbish bins which hadn't been emptied for some time. This was not a good start to our stay !!! On entering , I was extremely cross to see how dirty the whole place was. There are cobwebs hanging of every beam !!!!The oven was in a disgusting state, with blacked baking trays inside. The extractor fan above was thick with grease, the filters looking like they had never been cleaned. We went out and bought our own oven trays, as well as wine glasses, ,as there was only ONE in the cupboard. Fortunately I had taken my own tea towels , as there were none provided. The bedrooms were another disappointment, as the bedding was not only of poor quality, but it looked like it had been used by the previous guests. We had no hot water for some 36 hrs as the oil to the boiler had run out.We had to wait in one morning, for the plumber to arrive and fix the boiler. We had issues with so many aspects in this house, I can't believe how it passed inspection to be be rented out. I did notice however that some furniture which shows on the website, is no longer in place. Safety Issue , Fire alarms and Carbon Monoxide alarm with no batteries. If only this property was treated to a very deep clean, and redecoration, with some new good quality bed linen, and a well kitted out kitchen, bathrooms that functioned correctly, it would be a lovely place to stay. It needs someone to love it.It's in a lovely private spot with horses and cows in the field beside which was lovely to see. Very convenient for Caernarvon, beautiful garden center just down the road, ( would highly recommend, good restaurant).Lastly, sorry to note that the previous review from guests had not been acted upon before our arrival !!!

Could be a fantastic house with some work. Location lovely. Kitchen and living room area needed a good clean. Kitchen roll black when I wiped the table. Some plates and cutlery dirty, mouse droppings under the sink. Dust and spiders webs ++. Floor dirty when wiped. New towels and bed linen would be better and a general refreshed decor.
