Garth Craig is a spacious and well-equipped cottage in Porthmadog, praised for its stunning harbour and mountain views, excellent location close to town and attractions, and comfortable, clean interiors. Guests appreciated the thoughtful touches from the owners and found the property ideal for families and groups. While parking and access via steps can be challenging for some, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Multiple reviews highlight the property as immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and spotless throughout. Only one review mentions minor damp in the front door area and kitchen cupboards, but this is outweighed by the consistently high praise for cleanliness.
The location is repeatedly described as ideal, with magnificent views, easy access to the town, railways, and local attractions. The elevated position offers panoramic scenery, and the proximity to beaches and shops is a major plus. Some mention the steps as a challenge, but overall, the location is highly valued.
Guests consistently mention the house as warm, comfortable, and spacious, with high-quality beds and plenty of room for families and groups. The property is described as welcoming and homely, with only one review noting a slight squeeze for nine guests.
The cottage is very well equipped, with a well-stocked kitchen, modern bathrooms, and thoughtful amenities for families. Some minor maintenance issues (e.g., a leak and gas fire door) were quickly resolved. Parking is noted as limited and tight, and there are steps to access the property, but these do not detract significantly from the overall facilities.
Many guests mention welcome baskets, hampers, Welsh cakes, and flowers on arrival, as well as attentive communication from the owners. While these thoughtful gestures are frequently praised, please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.
A delightful, double-fronted, end-terrace cottage, set in an elevated position close to the centre of Porthmadog, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the marina and shops of this North Wales seaside resort. Comfortable and welcoming, this former sea captain's home dates back to the 1850s and offers charm and character with a superb sea, harbour and estuary panorama and delightful views of both the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway in the distance, and the beach at Borth-y-Gest just a 15 minute walk away. With 3 young, train-mad children it was the perfect place to stay with a stunning view overlooking the harbour, coastline, station and mountains. It was great just sitting by the window and watching the light change in the changeable April weather. Being an easy walk from the town centre meant we hardly used the car. The kitchen was well stocked especially with essentials that are often not present in a holiday home (flour, tea, coffee ketchup etc). The two lounges were lovely and there was a very healthy stock of toys which our >6 year olds loved. So much to do in the area, trains, Portmeirion, Cricceith and plenty more that we did not get around to doing. All communication with hosts was easy and prompt. We would love to come and stay again!

Warm and comfortable, with all the facilities you need, and within a stone's throw to the town. The owners were extremely generous in every way, and left us a lovely welcome basket with wine, tea, Welsh cakes and fresh flowers. The beds were very comfortable and the house was spotlessly clean. Thank you Judith and Eric for everything - we hope to return soon!
