Harbour View offers a superb location in Porthmadog, with beautiful harbour views and the unique experience of watching steam trains from the patio. Guests appreciate the proximity to the town centre and the well-equipped, comfortable living space. While the property is generally clean and tidy, some guests noted areas for improvement, such as the comfort of the single bed and occasional maintenance issues. Overall, it is an excellent choice for railway enthusiasts and those seeking a scenic, convenient base.
Most guests found the property clean and tidy, though one review mentioned the need for a deep clean and a damp feeling in the double bedroom.
The location is highly praised for its harbour views, proximity to the town centre, and the unique opportunity to watch the Ffestiniog Railway trains.
The main living areas and double bed are described as comfortable, but the single bed and mattress received criticism for being uncomfortable and in poor repair.
The flat is well appointed with everything needed for a stay, but some guests noted issues with door locks, lack of towel rails, and missing cooker instructions.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

The little steam trains of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway provide great entertainment as they bustle off on their spectacular journeys to either Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon. A short stroll takes you into the town centre, which offers a great choice of places to eat and drink. The picturesque Italianate village of Portmeirion, designed by Sir Clough Williams Ellis, is well worth a visit, as is the glorious sandy beach at Black Rock Sands; perfect bucket and spade territory or if you fancy, a paddle in the sea. Meanwhile, Blaenau Ffestiniog is an adrenaline junkie’s delight with Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world, Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, or the Stiniog downhill mountain bike trails. We picked this cottage because of the view and the location which did not disappoint. Watching the steam trains, the boats and the changing skies was wonderful and being able to walk to the town was a real advantage. The cottage has new windows, carpets and the settees are comfy. However, we also chose the cottage for the two bedrooms and although the bed in the main bedroom is in good repair the bed in the small room was not suitable for our needs. The middle of the bed base was damaged and the mattress was in a real poor state of repair. The middle was worn and saggy and this meant that the metal springs at the edges dug into the person resulting in no sleep the first night. After a day of trying to speak to someone we were delivered an extra duvet to put on top of the mattress but this was not ideal. I was told that a new mattress would not come until the following week, that the bed had been replaced (not in the last 4 yrs according to the inventory) and research showed the manufacturer's recommendation was to use it on a child's bed or for occasional adult use. This is not indicated at the time of booking. So in summary I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a double room but would suggest that if you require the additional bed you check whether it has been replaced before booking.

Enjoyed our stay at this property. Excellent location by the railway to see what is going on. The view over the harbour is excellent. The property was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. Only one comment, there are no rails provided to hang damp towels after a bath or shower either in the bathroom or the bedrooms.Would certainly recommend this property and go back again in the future.
