Arfron Cottage in Newport, South Wales, is praised for its peaceful and tranquil setting with beautiful views, making it a lucky find for nature lovers and hikers. Guests appreciate the well-equipped and comfortable accommodations, though some mention the access road is rough and recommend a 4x4 vehicle. The upside-down living arrangement to maximise views is a highlight, and while there are minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, the overall experience is positive.
The property is generally clean, but some guests noted cobwebs and a greasy grill pan. The garden could be better maintained for pet owners. However, the standard of cleanliness upon quick turnaround was commended.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility and views, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The access road is noted as rough, which may affect the score for some, but the setting is otherwise appreciated.
The cottage is described as comfortable and warm, with an upside-down layout to enjoy the views. However, some guests found the beds uncomfortable, which affected their sleep and overall comfort.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and appreciated welcome items. However, there are comments on the need for maintenance, such as the shower performance and garden upkeep.
Guests felt welcomed with thoughtful touches like welcome bits, although it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed. The provision of detailed information about the property's access road is also seen as considerate.
Perched in a fantastic location overlooking the sea in Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire is Arfron. This wonderful, dog-friendly holiday home benefits from a reverse-level layout with a homely open-plan living space, a tiered garden with furniture and stunning views across the sea and a close proximity to the village’s local amenities and beach; perfect for families, friends or couples looking for a fun-filled seascape. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight up the stairs where you can sink into the plush sofa in front of the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group whips up a tasty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen. After dinner, head back downstairs where you can savour the last of the evening’s sun with a glass of your favourite tipple outside on the furniture facing the uninterrupted views across the azure. When the sun dips behind the horizon, go back inside to wash off the day’s adventures in the bathroom before catching your rest in either the double or the family room with double and single. Arfron lies conveniently near a local store where you can pick up essentials to ease your self-catered stay or even just delight in an evening away from the kitchen at the local pub, The Ship Aground. On sunny days, venture to the coast at Pwllgwaelod Beach where you can soak up the sun on its glorious golden shores while the kids paddle in the shallow water and your dog roams freely. Enjoy the vast spread of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park where you can meander the 186 miles of coastal walks, a variety of fun watersports and a wealth of scenic beaches. Located between the beautiful Preseli Mountains and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the small, dispersed village of Dinas Cross is home to a well-stocked mini market and a pub. Newport, not far away, is an interesting seaside town with a rich history and lots of great places to shop, eat, and drink, as well as enjoy the water. The welcome bits were also very much appreciated. We particularly liked the upside down element to take advantage of the views. It was also very warm. Unfortunately we found the beds to be quite uncomfortable so ended our stay 2 nights early as we couldn't manage with the lack of sleep. The cottage was generally very clean but the grill pan was full of grease and the white bedding was stained in places. Would have been nice if they'd strimmed the garden to make it easier to pick up after the dogs. Not particularly secure either so be aware if you have escape artists! Not really as remote as we thought, we have reactive dogs so were hoping to be quite isolated but people do walk by the cottage (not many as in November).

The most peaceful, tranquil cottage I have ever stayed in. The view was amazing and just watching the birds and the wind in the trees was very restorative, the batteries were recharged and we were very sorry to be leaving. The facilities were really good, I loved the wet room shower, so much nicer than being confined in a shower cubicle. The beds were really comfy and the upside down living was perfect for making the best of the views. We didn't have a problem finding the cottage and, whilst the track was a little rough and stony , we just took it really slowly and it was easy enough to negotiate and we do not have a 4x4, though the car has reasonable clearance. Would happily recommend a visit whether you wanted a chilled relaxing holiday or a chance to go exploring in the lovely surrounding countryside.

Track in, a bit bumpy but I have a Volvo s80 saloon car and taking care it wasnt a problem. Everything you need is provided in the cottage, we did bring our own bedding covers because of our little dog but there was plenty at cottage. The only problem was disposing of food waste and recycling. We couldn't see any directive or bins/containers to use . Apart from that I would recommend anyone coming to stay . Beautiful area with wonderful views and a well equipped cottage
