About this property
Escape to the southern fringes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park with a stay at this beautifully appointed 15th-century cottage. Sleeping up to six guests, this is the perfect choice for families and groups of friends seeking peaceful surroundings and days of adventure across the Dyfi Valley. The scenic Glyndwr’s Way passes the cottage, making it easy to join the trail and follow it through woodland and farmland. The historic town of Machynlleth (2 miles) boasts a weekly Wednesday market, independent shops and pubs, and the popular Museum of Modern Art. Keen mountain bikers will have a choice of local forest trails, while the national park offers a wider range of activities and outdoor adventures, with popular destinations nearby including Dolgellau and Coed y Brenin Forest Park (both within 26 miles). Days on the coast are also made easy; head to Aberdyfi, Tywyn, Tonfanau and Ynys Las (all within 24 miles).
Before stepping inside this historic home, take a moment to appreciate the peaceful surroundings and grounds, setting the tone for a tranquil stay amongst nature. Head in and be greeted by a light-filled open-plan living space that combines a cosy lounge with a country-style kitchen and diner. Here, exposed wooden beams and a vaulted ceiling hint at the building’s age, while a white stone wall divides the lounge from the dining space. Gather in the lounge after days of outdoor adventure; sink into the soft seating and find your favourite shows on the Smart TV. When stomachs rumble, you'll find everything needed in the kitchen for a self-catered stay, and can choose to eat at the wooden dining table inside or al fresco out in the garden. When it’s time to call it a night, follow the stairs to the first floor and take your pick from three characterful bedrooms, all featuring farmhouse doors and exposed beams: a master double, a cosy twin room, and a bunk bedroom perfect for little ones. Serving the bedrooms and completing the home is a sleek family shower room with a large walk-in shower and WC.
Step outside as often as possible and uncover the storybook-style grounds that surround you. A private garden space with outdoor seating sets the scene for peaceful morning coffees and evening tipples together. Beyond, you’re invited to explore the wider grounds, which feature scenic walking trails that pass flowing rivers and waterfalls. You’ll also find a shared laundry room on site. Private parking is available for two cars, while two other on-site properties are available to book for larger groups.
