This fabulous detached barn conversion has been renovated to a very high standard and has five en-suite bedrooms, one being on the ground floor. Comfort is a priority, with the property being furnished to a very high quality throughout. The living room has a wood burner and the spacious kitchen/dining room enjoys spectacular views of the open countryside. There is underfloor heating throughout and a convenient utility/boot room offers the ideal place for cleaning and drying off your dogs after a long walk.
The property, accessed via a farm track, is set on a working sheep farm within the village of Llanwrthwl, which lies on the River Wye, south of the market town of Rhayader. A visit to the Elan Valley to see the dams and reservoirs is recommended, where you can take in some stunning scenery and wildlife, including an abundance of red kites. Cyclists can enjoy the many cycle routes in the area, including some of the best routes in the UK, along with a pump track in Rhayader. Rhayader town has an array of cafés and shops to browse around, and there is also the visitor centre at Elan Valley, which serves food and drink as well as offering plenty of information about the area.
The spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 10 miles from the property, whilst the market town of Builth Wells is a little further on. The latter is home to the Royal Welsh Showground which hosts many different shows and events throughout the year. Shop 1 mile, restaurant and pub 5 miles.

The drive up to the house is a half mile up a rough bridle path but once there the house and views are second to none. All bedrooms are on-suite and the furniture and fittings are all good quality and very comfortable. Tesco is only a 20 minute drive away and there is an Asda express at the local petrol station about 5 minutes away. You do have to drive wherever you want to visit but as a peaceful countryside retreat this house is perfect.

Thank you so much to Joyce and Rhys who went above and beyond for us as guests. We were a party of 8 family members (aged 12-67) and a dog. It’s the only place Ive ever stayed where we all had en-suite bedrooms; many a bathroom fight was avoided because of this.The hot tub outside with the beautiful views has got to be the main attraction ; truly amazing experience.The house is so well equipped, decorated and maintained to a high spec.There are great walks/hikes to be had from the property and it’s a lovely peaceful place as a base for exploring more of Wales.

Our 2nd time staying here and this time with friends for a big birthday. We last stayed 2 years ago and I hoped it would be as good as previously, and was not disappointed. The house has great facilities, is immaculately clean and comfortable. The view alone makes this place 5 stars (also worth the short walk up the public footpath to the bench) but the house backs it up! Also had Sunday lunch at the Crown in Rhayader which I would recommend (drive or taxi ride away)
