What our customers say about their holidays

The property was well equipped & very comfortable.
It was well cared for and beautifully clean. We thought there were two bathrooms in the property, one with a bath & one with a shower, plus a downstairs wc. There was a downstairs wc. There was a bathroom with a shower over the bath/shower. There was a notice on this shower advising it was for decoration only, not for use. There was a shower cubicle in a separate room, just a shower cubicle, no sink or wc. The property sleeps 6 - one usuable shower between 6 people is a potential problem. As we didn't have more than 4 of us there at once it was manageable. Yes, there is a bath. A beautiful, large, free standing bath that would have taken an age to fill. As all but one of our party are 60 over we tend to shower rather than bathe. There was no QR code in the property on arrival. There was a file on the dining table table with a phone number for a caretaker. I called this number and the caretaker advised she would contact the property owners and provide the QR code as soon as possible. Our stay began on a Saturday, the QR code arrived on Wednesday. Our friends had left (due to an unrelated issue that arose) before it arrived so did not actually check in. Shower & QR code unavailability are where Angel Cottage failed to meet expectations. In every other way it met or exceeded expectation. We had no issues with parking (two cars) or noise. For most of our stay the weather was colder and wetter than wished for so we appreciated that the heating was on. We didn't use the outside space because of the weather. It was an easy, 10 minute walk, either along the road or the canal tow path, to the bottom of Skipton high street and everything the town has to offer. A less than 5 minute walk to the train station, Aireville Park and a large supermarket. It's a bonus not to have to drive everywhere. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider booking Angel Cottage again. We'd just need a rota for the shower if there were 6 of us.

Castlewood Cottage was ideal for us.
There was ample space, and we all appreciated the tasteful interior decor. The beds were comfortable with towels and linen of good quality. There was plenty of hanging space and hangers. A lot of thought had been put into the finer detaills (not always found in holiday rentals) - hand soap by every sink, large toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets and laundry liquid were supplied. The welcome pack for the humans was a lovely touch, as was the Scooby Snacks doggy chocolate! The double bedroom window had views of the church and castle. For insomniacs, the closeness to the chimes of the church clock were a reminder I didnât need. The weather was somewhat disappointing for our rare and important family reunion with the Aussies, but the comfort of the cottage and the genuinely warm welcome and great service we received in shops, restaurants, cafes and bars was outstanding. We highly recommend The Woolly Sheep pub and restaurant , Cock and Bottle, VSQ Gin & More Bar and Kibble Dog Friendly Coffee House in Skipton. The Fountaine Inn in Linton continues give great value for money and delish, hearty meals served by friendly staff. The Retreat Tearoom and Black Horse Hotel in Grassington and Wonky Cafe in Settle were also very good. Castle Woods behind the impressive medieval castle is ideal for dog walkers. A thoroughly enjoyable stay was had by all - thank you. We highly recommend Castlewood Cottage as a base for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Angel Cottage is a Victorian mid terrace which has been updated and furnished to a good standard.
The theme of angels and hearts is used throughout. The beds are comfortable and the dining room is a great place to congregate in the centre of the property. The kitchen is very well equipped and the private courtyard garden is a real sun catcher all day for relaxing and al fresco dining. As with many older properties the ceilings are high so the stairs are a bit steeper than standard. The owners have thoughtfully provided rails on both sides of the stairwell. The ground floor has gloss tiles or laminated wood floors with rugs. Visitors who are not so steady on their feet need to be careful as the rugs are not held by grippers and there is a slight ramp at the threshold between the hall and dining room. The big plus of this cottage is its proximity to the amenities of Skipton. Rail station just 2 minutes walk as is the entrance to the canal towpath and the lovely Aireville Park. Supermarkets 3 minutes walk and the centre of town and Skipton Castle a 10-15 minute stroll. Less good was the noise from the main road outside which is persistent between 6am and midnight. When the traffic stops a bright security light for the railway comes on until dawn. This particularly affects the Lounge and Bedroom Two. Parking at the rear of the property was a boon as we often found street parking to be unavailable.

A well presented holiday cottage, well equipped and with a pleasant, private outside space.
The road outside is very busy and noisy, not too much of a problem when the windows are shut but could be a problem in warmer weather when windows are open. It wasn't a problem for us as we were only a couple staying but I would mention that there isn't a master suite as mentioned in the cottage description. Upstairs there are three good size bedrooms. The "shower room" is literally just a shower in a cupboard across the hall and there is no sink in there so after showering in a very confined space you have to come out into the hall and then go in to the bathroom, also accessed from the hall, to finish getting ready - may be a problem if there are other people in your party. The bathroom is spacious but shower cannot be used so options are limited. The downstairs cloakroom was another confined space that opened directly into the dining room and so not ideal. None of the rooms appeared to have a super king size bed as stated. We did enjoy our stay and appreciated the easy walk into town along the canal towpath and it was an ideal location for exploring further afield.

A lovely stay in a well located cottage, the cottage was welcoming and inviting.
Upon arrival, there was some milk, tea and coffee provided which was a nice gesture. The cottage is a great base for walking and a visit to Malham to see the cove and Janetâs Foss. After a 12 mile walk, Dyson House is a great place to come home and relax. There were a few areas which could be improved, the kitchen was lacking some utensils such as small sharp knives for chopping and the oven door was faulty as it struggled to close. The hinge on the left hand side is not secured in properly which caused problems during the stay. Another minor issue, was that in some areas of the home there are damp spots where wallpaper is starting to peel, which is something to watch in the future. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay at Dyson House and would consider this cottage to stay in the future.
