  Initial impression on arrival was good. Location for the beach was brilliant. However, on closer inspection, the standard of cleaning & maintenance was quite poor. The property needed TLC. Metal door strips were loose, sharp and a serious trip hazard. Whole house in need of a thorough deep clean. Windows filthy, inside & out. Louvre blinds very dusty. Outside kitchen sills were grim! We tried to put vacuum cleaner on - it didn’t work, and having read the guest comments book, it hadn’t worked for about 2 years! This property sleeps 8. The hot water in a morning was just about enough for 2 showers. Seriously not good enough! A suggestion re duvets & pillows - they were all feather filled. We had to go out & buy pillows for 2 guests with feather allergies. Maybe provide a selection not including feathers. Recycling system & instructions were very confusing. We diligently separated our rubbish, as per the kitchen bins, but the instructions for end of holiday were to just put everything in a black bag at the end of the holiday and put it in outside dustbin. Not at all happy with this. Does someone then go through your rubbish to separate it all out elsewhere?? We very much doubt it. We could see other properties had canvas recycling bags outside on bin day. Maybe provide some at Witsend! Garden was much steeper than photos suggested, with steep terraced steps. Not at all toddler friendly. This ought to be made clearer. Overall, we had a nice holiday, would not book this property again.

  'Witsend' was an ideal property to stay in for an extended family group including a baby, 10 year old and dog. The interior is light and bright, big kitchen, large dining table in the conservatory, and two sitting rooms with big comfy sofas and TV's. Very comfortable beds, a large family bathroom and additional en-suite plus separate WC downstairs make keeping everyone clean easy work. The small back garden is lovely, a safe enclosed space for the dog and big table to sit around. The local beach, safe and sandy, is only 5 minutes walk away. Rhosilli beach & Oxwich Bay are a short drive. It was our first visit to the Gower but we are looking forward to returning and would be very happy to stay at 'Witsend' again.

  Great location for Horton beach.Nicely laid out property.Comfortable beds.It was a let down for us though as there are some bad maintenance issues that should have been addressed.It hadn’t been cleaned properly,floors not vacuumed or mopped sufficiently.When we arrived in the afternoon the bins were full and rubbish bags scattered around. I did call the letting company straight away and they sent out a team who arrived swiftly and were very efficient in cleaning the property and removing the rubbish.This property had not been let out the week before so there was no ‘quick turnaround’.It should have therefore not had any issues

  Witsend is a spacious, well equipped house within a 2 minute walk to the magnificent beach. Having spent 10 years having family holidays in the area, this is, without doubt, the best property we have found. So much so that we booked for 2022 within hours of our return home yesterday!

  This was our 4th stay at Witsend, as we feel the problems were outweighed by the perfect location. Our extended family group had a wonderful holiday but we would appreciate a higher standard of cleanliness and attention paid to the niggling faults within the house.
