What our customers say about their holidays

  • Sophie - Verified booking

This property was perfect for our family Christmas away.

The house is beautiful and the location is great if you wish to be able to walk into the town and within minutes of the beach. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and decorated beautifully and the extra bathrooms were appreciated. This house could be 5 stars plus with a little extra care. Unfortunately some maintenance issues previously mentioned by guests are still ongoing for example the downstairs toilet has a camping light. Also we found a couple things to be a little odd. Although the kitchen was well stocked with everything there were no cupboards empty to put food? The dining room is missing a chair from the table meaning we had to take a chair from the kitchen and the door to two of the bedrooms wouldn't shut properly in the frame, again not huge details but with a little better care and maintenance this could be a gem. Lastly although we booked Christmas originally it wasn't going to be decorated, in the end they managed to get a tree up for us but we did have to add lights to this and also take other decorations to make the place festive ( the host was very kind and let us check in earlier because of this and did say it was an oversight as not rented at Christmas before so fair enough). Overall though the house felt very homely and we all felt comfortable being there. The space is well laid out and we loved things like having a utility space with a huge extra fridge! Also we managed to for two cars on the drive parked close together with the gate open at no issue to any other properties as did the house next door. We all agreed we would go back again and hope the owner can work through these little snags to make this amazing.

Our group of four + 1 dog spent a week in "The Lodge" and what a lovely week it was.

Everything was as described. As I am slightly disabled, I didn't venture upstairs, but our friends who did sleep up there said it was excellent. Plenty of hot water everywhere. On the ground floor en-suite to the twin bedroom, lovely bathroom with powerful shower over the bath. Kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. Lounge/dining room with dining table/chairs, 2 settees, big TV with freeview. Nice little patio with table and chairs. Not very secure for a small dog but if the dog is well behaved like ours, not a big problem. The town itself has plenty of interesting and useful shops not just Tacky "Gift" shops, if any. We ate in the "George" on every night bar one. We ate in the Kings Head pub/restaurant on the first night and I had a Ribeye steak destroyed, it's just a bit further away from the "The Lodge". Once was enough. On the last night I had a Ribeye in the George and it was to die for, with a bread and butter pudding to follow. There is a restaurant at the rear (no dogs) but you are welcome in the bar with your well behaved dog, while they eat the dog treat biscuits offered by the staff. The staff were attentive and the local clientele were really friendly. Our friends said there are some very nice walks in the area and we all travelled to many historical sites and places of interest, meeting such friendly and welcoming people. Besides all that, this holiday destination is in our estimation "Highly Recommended" but I am biased because I've been there and done that and would willingly go back again.

A lovely property in a perfect location - simply stroll out and enjoy the delights of Hadleigh!

Surprisingly quiet given its central location. The property was very clean and comfortable - slightly old fashioned, but everything was of very good quality and the owners had thought of everything. We had a little difficulty finding the property initially as the instructions suggested a car park 150 yards from The George pub, but was actually more like 300 yards. The confusion was there was a public car park 150 yards from the pub, but not accessible from the road. A call to the owner gave more clarity and then we easily found the car park at the top of the high street. The actual car park itself was excellent with plenty of space and easy access to the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were very impressed with Hadleigh itself - a great selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants plus very friendly people. We will be back!

The radiators in the lounge side of the house take a long time to heat up, may be worth noting this in the welcome pack as we thought they weren't working at all.

Owners very responsive and arranged a call out in arrival evening for us, The house was 11 degrees on arrival, perhaps pop the heating on in advance during cold months? Bathroom lock needs attention, it is not at all secure and opens very easily with just a slight push on the door from the outside. Cleaners a bit trigger happy, sitting outside waiting for us to leave (well before 10 am) Apart from those minor issues, the house is superb! Beautifully furnished, very comfortable beds, amazing towels and bed linen. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely crockery and glasses. Everything you could need for a very relaxing, wonderful stay. Fabulous pub a few minutes walk away and an amazing Co-op a few mins walk also. Very friendly neighbour who let us park in the 5 private bays to the left of the house. We had an amazing Christmas break, thank you!

What a lovely little hidden gem.

Such a quaint little house with lots of quirky features. The bedrooms were all exceptional, and all of them having en-suites was particularly nice. The kitchen was well stocked and all of the facilities worked well. We used this Lodge to get ready for my wedding, and the spacious, well lit living room was perfect as our Hair station. The thoughtful little touches were what really impressed me though - the board games, the cookies, the little outdoor area, the Quentin Blake wallpaper! All in all we had a lovely experience here and the owners were very helpful in providing all the information we needed for our stay. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you want to explore the stunning little town of Hadleigh.
