    This was an exceptional property.

Superbly well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings, plenty of kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc, Comfortable beds and nice bed linen. The play room, with a selection of toys, books and games was a brilliant touch. The location was perfect for us; in the middle of Stow with easy walking (and running) from the doorstep, a short walk to a playpark for the little one, and plenty of pubs/restaurants if you fancy an evening out. The two-car barn for parking was great and if you have three cars, there are plenty of visitors spaces to the close which were hardly used during our stay. The neighbours are friendly and the close is so peaceful and quiet; we hope our grandsons didnt make too much noise! Stow is also well located to visit loads of places around and we would highly recommend this place... Also excellent support from Manor Cottages when at first we didnt think we had a microwave, only to find one of the 2 eye-level ovens was a clever, all-in-one oven - this was essential for heating baby milk, etc., The only slightly negative thing about the property were a lack of hooks in the bathroom for hanging wash-kits, and the bedroom door that rattled when the window was open (but easily fixed with a folded bit of newspaper). An excellent week's holiday with the family...

We had a lovely stay, thankyou.

There were no tea towels in the kitchen and this was our biggest frustration over the weekend. The property is a little worn and well lived in, but it's comfortable and clean. My biggest issue with this overall booking was the difficulty in speaking with anybody to discuss our reservation ahead of our stay. I was desperately hoping to organise an early check in, was more than willing to be accommodating for how this might work (appreciating check outs and preparing the property), but trying to speak to anyone on the phone was impossible. The customer service when trying to accommodate the request to speak to someone was unhelpful and dismissive, it would take them days to respond to my queries and as a new representative was picking up would have to start the query all over again- their system does not log your previous enquiry. On the day of our reservation I received a voicemail from a very chirpy representative- the property was ready and we could check in from 2pm. Not particularly helpful when it's currently 1.30pm you've got 20 people arriving from all corners of the country and you yourself have a 3hour journey ahead. If you are looking to book this property, please be mindful of check-in times and the ability to liaise with anyone about your reservation ahead of time.

Overall we were disappointed by the quality of the decor having invested significantly to hire the property.

Whilst clean throughout it appeared that little work has been done to keep the property to the standard of the initial build, which must have been excellent. Our view is that it requires some TLC to bring it back to the original level. Specifics which we noticed include: Very poor quality and unsafe garden furniture and not enough for us all to sit out Bigger patio area would help Broken coat stand hooks Lack of standard equipment in the kitchen eg potato peeler, cheese grater, wooden spoons - helpful for non stick pans. Non slip mats required in the kitchen and hallway. Carpets in dining room, stairwell and landing would benefit from being cleaned. Hand shower in the bathroom not working correctly. Right hand side window frame in the games room is split. Headboard in the double bedroom on the left is wobbly. The location was great for visiting the area. The weather was good and enabled us to visit many attractions that the area has to offer. It was sufficiently near to the village centre to be able to walk in and our grandson enjoyed the playground just down the road. By no means was this a bad rental, but all of the above did cause us to be disappointed.

The house was beautifully clean and nicely furnished.

Great location too, within walking distance to the town centre. A few things would help make the house a 4 star rental. The second double bed is not at all comfortable, it felt very cheap and at only 4ft6ins wide, not really comfortable for two average sized adults IMO. Also the wooden headboard was not fixed to the wall or bed so it kept rattling. We had to place a towel on it to stop the noise. In the master bed there were no black out blinds only curtains that let lots of light in at dawn, about 4.30am making it impossible to sleep without eye masks. We found that the razor/toothbrush chargers in the bathroom and ensuite would not recharge anything. We had to buy toothbrushes as we couldn’t use our electric ones. The cutlery in the kitchen was of very, very low quality and not enough of it if renting to a party of 6. There are cutlery sets in the shops for less than £10 which make the ones supplied in the cottage laughable. So, our conclusion. Great cottage but needs rethinking on the points we have mentioned which wouldn’t cost much to put right but would really help make the place the quality rental it could be as it’s not cheap to stay there.

We did enjoy a lovely family week at the South Hill Farmhouse.

The house provided good accommodation, we were particularly impressed with all the toys available for the very youngest and the games room occupied the teenagers. It was also good having some many bath/shower rooms with a large number of people, and even hooks on the back of bathroom doors! The kitchens were well stocked and the welcome hamper was a real delight! It was great being able to walk into Stow and to be near some many other beautiful Cotswolds villages and attractions. There were three problems with this property: 1. We were celebrating my father's 90th birthday and none of the sofa/comfy chairs were suitable for him to get up from. 2. Issues with heating, rooms 3 & 4 had no heating in bedroom or bathroom, so towels were taken downstairs to dry. This was solved on Tuesday but if the instructions had detailed that there was a third thermostat on the landing we could have sorted this ourselves. 3. Second floor had a real issue with woodlice, we removed many but they kept appearing in cupboards and one of the ladies were woken when one walked across her face!
