Big Cottages in Anglesey

Choose from a wide selection of large cottages in Anglesey

When you visit the beautiful island of Anglesey, you'll discover pristine beaches, idyllic countryside, dramatic cliffs, tiny fishing coves, pretty villages, and historic landmarks.

Choose any one of our large holiday homes in Anglesey and you can look forward to enjoying the best of the Welsh Coast and countryside with your favourite people. Rent a stunning villa overlooking the sea, manor houses with stunning lake views or a rustic cottage with all the traditional charm you could wish for.

Whatever type of group accommodation you're looking for in Anglesey, at Big Cottages, we've got you covered.

Why choose Anglesey for your group trip?

For a small island, Anglesey sure packs a lot in! Discover 125 miles of unspoilt coastline, where you can find secluded bays, sprawling beaches and tranquil coves – perfect for a group beach holiday! Explore the lush Anglesey countryside which, as the whole island has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Beauty, makes the perfect backdrop for your trip.

If a bracing walk is what you're after, head for Newborough Beach and Llanddwynn Island. Walk through the picturesque pine forest down to the beach, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Snowdonia. Keep walking along the beach and you'll reach Llanddwynn Island, which offers even more amazing views and a pretty lighthouse.

Or why not have an adventure on the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path? This 140-mile-long path goes right around the island and treats visitors to views of the spectacular coastline, dunes, woodland and farmland.

South Stack is another island that's well worth a visit. Located just off the northwest coast, you'll find the famous lighthouse and the South Stack Cliffs RSPB Reserve. Here, you can spot all sorts of wildlife, including puffins in the summer months. If you want more puffin-spotting fun, take a boat trip from Beaumaris to Puffin Island.

For more wildlife adventures, head to The Dingle Nature Reserve, an ancient 25-acre wooded valley. Keep an eye out for the sculptures by local artists, kingfishers and woodpeckers in this tranquil hideaway.

If you love visiting estates and manor houses, then make sure you fit Plas Newdd House and Gardens into your itinerary. Located on the shore of the Menai Strait, this impressive house was once the home of the Marquess of Anglesey and dates back to the 18th century.

Beaumaris is one of the prettiest seaside towns you'll ever see. Instagram-worthy pastel houses, lots of trendy shops, a pier and a castle are among some of the highlights of this lovely town.

Anglesey is well supplied with top-quality seafood, which you'll find in many of the coastal restaurants. If fish isn't your dish, you'll find plenty of inns serving traditional pub grub and even some fine-dining restaurants for those special nights out.

For those who really enjoy getting their mouths around something out of the ordinary, Anglesey is home to the town with the longest name in the world Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Good luck with asking for directions to that one!

A Haven of Peace: Our Cherished Week in Cemaes Bay Our recent stay in Cemaes Bay, Anglesey, Wales, was nothing short of a sanctuary during a profoundly challenging time in our lives.

My wife, daughter, and I sought a serene retreat close to our oncology unit, as my wife is courageously battling terminal illness. Having lived locally for over 20 years, I thought I had seen all the beauty this region had to offer, but Cemaes Bay revealed itself to be a hidden gem that stood apart, offering us solace and breathtaking natural wonders. The wildlife was a source of gentle joy and amazement for us. We were greeted by the sight of dolphins gracefully moving through the water, an experience that filled us with peace and wonder. Birdwatching became a tranquil pastime as we spotted various breeds of seabirds and puffins, each sighting a reminder of life's simple beauties and the resilience of nature. One of the most remarkable aspects of our visit was the clarity of the view during the day. Without the aid of binoculars, the silhouette of the Isle of Man was visible across the horizon on a clear day, offering a spectacular vista that connected us to the broader landscapes of the British Isles. This unobstructed view across the sea was a reminder of the vastness and beauty of the world around us. The coming and going of boats on the horizon became a soothing routine, a testament to the enduring relationship between land and sea. These moments, watching life unfold at its own pace, were reminders of the world's vastness and the preciousness of our time within it. Perhaps most strikingly, the view from our windows was a live painting no television could rival. The dynamic seascape, with its ever-changing moods, colors, and textures, was a constant source of fascination and reflection. It served as a poignant metaphor for our own journey, ever-changing yet beautiful in its complexity. Amidst this natural splendor, Nina, the owner of the property, stood out as a beacon of warmth and thoughtfulness. Her attention to detail and genuine care for her guests' experience added layers of comfort and ease to our stay. Nina has created not just a place to stay but a sanctuary for healing, reflection, and familial bonding. Her kindness and the peaceful embrace of Cemaes Bay gave us a cherished week of tranquility and togetherness. In conclusion, our time in Cemaes Bay was a precious interlude in our lives, offering moments of beauty, peace, and connection amidst the trials of illness. This beautiful seaside retreat, enhanced by Nina's exceptional hospitality, is a testament to the healing power of nature and human kindness. It's a place that has etched itself in our hearts, a tranquil haven we recommend to anyone seeking solace and beauty.

We had the most amazing time at this beautiful cottage.

The cottage sits right next to the coastal path with breath taking views across the sea. We found it to be a place of real tranquility and somewhere to escape from the stresses of the real world. The pictures really don't do this properly justice for you to fully appreciate the amazing sea views which you get from every room. It is clear that a lot of love and thought has gone into furnishing this property with quirky little features and reminders of the seaside throughout. Absolutely everything had been thought of and everything you could possibly need provided. We have been staying in holiday cottages across the UK for 13+ years and I have never come across a property owner thoughtful enough to provide electric blankets on all of the beds for the winter months where I can imagine they would be gratefully appreciated, not needed during our stay as we were lucky enough to have some beautiful weather but it was a thoughtful consideration none the less. The property was spotlessly clean and tidy upon arrival with plenty of towels, hand-wash and other basic essentials (toilet rolls, clothes wash, washing up liquid etc) provided. The gardens surrounding the property were very pretty and well maintained with lots of areas leading off from one another giving the place a magical vibe, a bit like a secret garden with different sections to explore and discover. Beacon Cottage is a very short 5 minute walk down to the bay where you can walk across the promenade and take in the beautiful scenery of Cemaes Bay. The pathways from the cottage and across the bay are all flat and paved making this an ideal property for guests with mobility difficulties or guests with walking aids. There is also a lovely pub on the same 5 minute route to the beach called The Stag which is the most northerly pub in Wales and a really nice place to enjoy a pint or two and a good meal. There are so many beautiful places to visit all within 30 minute drive of this property so we found it to be a fantastic location from which to visit Anglesey. Overall this property was an absolute gem and we cannot wait to visit again soon.

Beacon cottage has off road parking for 2 cars.

The enclosed gardens are lovely, well maintained and dog friendly. Partitioned areas are great for relaxing, having a barbecue or sitting by the chiminea. Views from the cottage are superb. You have long distance views of the coastline and it’s wildlife from the gardens and upstairs living area. We saw Razorbill, redshank, oystercatcher, various gull species, ravens and seals in early March. The kitchen, dining room and lounge are all on the 1st floor and provide spectacular sea views in any weather. Sitting upstairs in the warmth while a storm raged outside was a memorable day on our winter visit. The stunning coastal path runs adjacent to the cottage and it’s only a short stroll into the village. It is a great place for sea fishing - within a couple of minutes you can be fishing off the rocks. We caught a salmon and pollack with spinning rods in freezing conditions. Summer must be great for mackerel. The owner was extremely helpful and keen to be ensure our stay went well. We were provided with lots of books, dvds and games as well as tvs in every room. It felt like home from the start. Our holiday at Beacon cottage was a joy. Plenty to do and yet so relaxing. If anyone dislikes this place they shouldn’t go on holiday.

Fantastic house, great owner Sam, nothing too much trouble, weather helped as sun shined all week, but I would gladly stay here during winter, far reaching views, of mountains, hills, fields, and the sea.

Huge garden, which was a hit with all ages, and what a bonus to take a short walk up to the RSPB protected South stack with mesmerising views and thousands of sea birds, wow. Without a doubt one of the best rentals we have ever stayed in over the years, and we have stayed at some belters. A short drive to Porth Dafarch beach, stunning with cliff walks too, and Trearddur Bay, brilliant safe beach for all. If you like a quality burger, head to Petes burger bar at Penrhos coastal park. We also had good food at Simply street food in Holyhead, very reasonable prices, and tried Catch 22 at Valley, around six mile away, pricier, but all seven of us had no complaints. If new to visiting Anglesey try to visit Raf Valley to see the various jets, I like to park up at the golf club at Rhosneigr and walk to the sand dunes, if jets taking off from there its a treat. And finally if reasonably fit, please take a walk up Holyhead mountain, and maybe down to North Stack, outstanding. enjoy every minute if you are lucky enough to rent this property, we will be back.

This is THE most amazing place we have stayed in during more than 15 years of family holidays, I can’t imagine finding anywhere that’s more comfortable, welcoming and better equipped.

The owner, Sam, obviously has a great passion for Ty Nant which is evident in the quality of the furniture, fittings and facilities provided as well as the standard to which the place is maintained and cleaned. She couldn’t be more considerate, thoughtful and helpful too. As a family group of eight with ages ranging from 2 to 75 years, there was plenty of space for all of us to enjoy time either individually or together, indoors as well as out. Whether it was local beaches, nature walks or attractions like the Sea Zoo, there were also plenty of activities that appealed to each of us. So, we found Ty Nant to be the most wonderfully comfortable and attractive cottage with an amazing owner who goes “the extra mile” in her efforts to ensure guests have a superb holiday, and which is perfectly located in ideal surroundings. Will we go back for a third time? You bet!! Allan.
