What our customers say about their holidays

  • Kayleigh - Verified booking

Beautiful property and location was breathtaking.

Property has an exceptionally well furnished kitchen and children/baby crockery/plates too. Clean and spacious throughout. Fire, hot tub and firepit loved by all. Children loved the addition of a playstation for a evening of singstar/games. Alexa device present in kitchen too. Gardens well kept and fenced 90%. Wouldve been ideal if fully secured for dog/young children. Candles and torch easily located thanks to storm babet putting the power out for a short while. Fire kept us all warm. The neighbour is a gem. Called to check we were ok when the power was lost. Made sure we had everything needed and said farewell on day of departure. Furniture in main bedroom a tad dated/wobbly. Decking step at side needs attention as broken/dangerous. Barbed fence present on post leading around to hot tub needs removed for safety. Overall an exceptional holiday. Weather was good to us with several warm sunny days. Rain on arrival and departure days so cannot complain at that for October.

When booking a holiday house, you can never be too sure what you are going to find and if the house will look anything like the photos.

Collieston cottage is a real gem and exceeded our expectations. The location and views are absolutely gorgeous. The actual cottage was well presented, clean, welcoming and cosy. The doggy welcome basket was great and the selection of shortbread biscuits were a great welcome treat for everyone. Although it is a working farm, the cows and sheep didn't bother us and the children loved seeing the animals in the fields close to the cottage. The upstairs lounge/bedroom area were great for the older children as they loved have their own space. The hot tub was great and the views from the hot tub was amazing. Last but not least, the owners were lovely too. Although they are around on the farm, they are not intrusive at all and it was lovely talking to them. We normally don't like going back to the same place more than once as we like exploring different places, but Collieston cottage might have changed our minds.

    Fantastic stay.

The cottage itself was one of the most well equipped cottages we have stayed in. Everything was supplied that would be needed. It was like staying in your own home. All the welcome packages were a lovely touch and it is these little things which make the difference. This was a family holiday although all members were adults. The wi-fi was the best we have every experienced whilst being away and all four of us were able to check in and use all of our devices at the same time. Quite remote which is what we had wanted. The hot tub was fantastic and the views wonderful despite a full week of typical Scottish rainy weather (which we were also prepared for). We would definitely recommend this cottage and would definitely consider booking up again next year! It was also nice for the owners to check in with us half way through our stay to ensure everything was okay.

Booked as a family holiday with daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren (3 year old & 4 months old).

The house was definitely a home from home with everything thought of including washing tablets, kitchen roll, tea towels plastic glassware (handy when outside near the hot). The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and scrumptious. All the bedrooms were cosy with luxurious bedding and towels. Great space upstairs with the sofas and book corner. The open plan living room was great with an amazing view, private and peaceful garden. The 3 year old loved seeing the farmer in front of the house on his tractor and the lambs behind on the hill. The surrounding area is great for nature walks and just beautiful countryside scenery. Overall a great relaxing time away with the family. We will definitely book again!

Our Second stay in Collieston Cottage and we enjoyed it just as much.

It’s Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owners give you total privacy but are easy to contact if needed. Even though we’ve stayed before We filled our week with new things to see and do. Great location if you’re wanting to see Dumfries, but want a peaceful cottage to relax in at night. The views are fantastic and the hot tub is a real treat. The cottage is bigger than it looks on the photos and you have to see it to realise how beautiful the setting is. The children loved seeing the lambs in the fields outside the cottage too. It really is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in and we’ve stayed in many cottages. 11/10
