What our customers say about their holidays

  • Anne - Verified booking

We had a wonderful stay at Clashindeugle.

The owners were excellent with their communication. The bedrooms were all comfortable and warm. The main lounge and kitchen/dining area was plenty big enough for everyone (12 people) to be comfortable and not feel "on top" of one another. The games room was enjoyed by everyone. Outside, there was plenty of parking. The views across the fields were fabulous and I enjoyed watching the sunrise over the mountains each morning from the kitchen sofa. There were some lovely walks straight from the house, which we enjoyed. The area itself has many lovely pubs, cafes and restaurants and there are lots of places to visit, even during winter. A 45 minute drive took us to Culloden (free for national trust members) and Inverness. The Highland Zoo and Landmark were a great day out and only around 20 minutes away. We had an awsome afternoon on Loch Ness, thanks to Beastie Boats rib rides. The quad biking with Cairngorm Quad Treks was great fun too. Aviemore is around 30 minutes away, with lots of activities and a nice town for shopping with a decent Tesco. We had a big tesco home delivery on booked for our first day, then shopped locally as there is a good sized co-op in Grantown On Spey itself. There is also some lovely little craft and trinket shops as well as a great little pottery painting shop, Smarty Art, where we spent a lovely rainy afternoon painting. It was very reasonably priced and will post your items to your home once fired. All in all, another wonderful holiday in Scotland. Sadly, Clashindeugle is already booked out for next year, but we have booked another house in Grantown On Spey as there's much more for us to do yet!

I am grateful to Woodside House for providing such an amazing house (set in extensive private grounds) for me to use for a significant family celebration.

Prior to arriving I received messages, welcoming me and my family and a lovely bottle of wine was provided. Thank you. It was made clear that someone would be available at all times should I need this but there was no intrusion. Ten adults (ranging from 21 to 88 years) and two well behaved dogs were accommodated very well. The house was very comfortable and warm and the size of the rooms allowed us all to relax easily and move about (even with a zimmer frame). The house has its quirks. Not all the lights work, window shutters might not close due to radiators, there may not be enough wine glasses for everyone (but a trip to the supermarket sorted that one) and crockery is located in different places in the kitchen, dining room and hallway. It all added to the experience though. The main living space is a lovely bright room and the dining kitchen has a welcoming open fire (matches, firelighters & logs, etc are not provided). The lighting in the kitchen could, however, be better especially when cooking in the evening. The entrance hallway is gigantic. It was really helpful to have a downstairs toilet (that also has a very impressive state of the art shower). The house has a striking stairway leading up to a lovely hallway off which are all the bedrooms. The bedrooms are bright and comfortable as are the two bath/shower rooms upstairs each with a wc. The private grounds are great. I wanted a venue that could accommodate my family for a happy occasion and Woodside House enabled this. Happy memories were made in this house and for this I am extremely grateful. Thank you.

    Dirty and tired.

Stayed at NO. 16. Absolutely disgusting. We tried to stick it out but after a few days we couldn't carry on with it. We contacted Skyee Cottage to be helped but received little support. We had to find another property. We were then told after we left that the carpets and sofa are going to be replaced on the 20th June 2024. Overall... Cons. 1. Decore is tired. 2. Carpets are soiled with heavy stains. 3. Sofa and chairs are rancid. Absolutely disgusting. Made us feel itchy and uncomfortable with the state of the place. 4. Found dirt and food benind sofa. Kitchen draws had crumbs and dirt. 5. Windows were filthy and full of cobwebs. Thick Dirt and dust behind and under beds. 6. Never complained about a holiday before but this was a joke. Had to wash our cloths when we got out. Pros. 1. Mattress was dirty but not stained. Very hard but not a problem. 2. Room sizes were ok as well. 3. The Site was us ok for us . Staff were very friendly. Pool was ok. And we liked the table tennis and ping pong. 4. Parking for 1 car.. 5.Decking area was nice. 6. Kitchen has what you need. (Tiles are gruby tho). Please check the standard of no. 16 Savita Cottage before going. Ensure the upgrades have happened. It's no joke. It's terrible. I don't consider myself to be fussy. But it was awful especially for the price. As it stands we are awaiting some sort of resolution. But to be honest I'm not holding out much hope. As we just keep getting told the owner will be spoken to and then we'll get an update. As of close of business today we have had nothing

Unfortunately the standard of accommodation is not as described.

It had not been cleaned on arrival, However, the resort staff were marvellous and cleaned it immediately. As this accommodation is privately owned, it seems there was a lack of communication about whose responsibility it was to clean. The sofa is threadbare with holes in and awful improvised cushions stuffed in making the seats uncomfortable. It is advertised as a standing shower in the main bathroom but there is no hook at height, so in effect only one shower workable. This shower leaked all over the floor. There were not enough of the same sized glasses in the kitchen for 5 of us (4 of each) and glasses were cracked. There was not enough cutlery either (only 4 knives!). It would have been nice to have more plates than just the six as not enough then for any extra when prepping food etc. The prepping knives (paring etc) were all very blunt and unusable, meaning the only sharp knife available to use in prepping was the serrated bread knife! The fridge door was broken. The carpets were filthy and desperately need replacing. It could be made very nice but clearly the owners have not spent any money on it, so for the price we paid, it was inadequate. This is a shame as the resort itself was lovely. If I were to go back, I would rent one of the resort owned cottages as they appeared much nicer.

The house is set in lovely grounds well away from the main road.

There was nine of us staying over for four days all guys and on the website it said three doubles and two singles. I got in touch with the owner and asked if anything could be done to have more singles. They came back and had managed to make nine singles up, great flexibility, thanks for that. The house is rustic, comfortable, lovely and very spacious, a lot of the time we spent chatting around the large dinning room table. Beds are very comfortable and the showers are to die for. On day three a Saturday, we were all just leaving when I saw steam coming out of the downstairs shower room. A hot water pipe had burst and the shower and toilet were flooded as was the carpet into the main hall. Found the stop cock switched the mains water off and phoned the owner. He said leave a key and go enjoy yourselves, a plumber will be there within two hours. I got a text two and a half hours later saying the leak had been fixed and the house was being cleaned. We came back in the evening and you would never have known there had been a flood, brilliant response time, totally on the ball. You couldn’t ask for more. Great stay, would recommend the house to anyone and we will be back in the future.
