What our customers say about their holidays

We were VERY pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Whitehorse House in Donegal.

The location is absolutely stunning, and the house takes full advantage of this - the kitchen and seating areas have massive windows, which look out onto the rolling waves of the sea, two of the four bedrooms also have excellent sea views. However, the house itself would be what we would consider a 'destination' in itself - underfloor heating throughout, large and spacious rooms, an extremely well stocked kitchen (we like to cook, and most times we hire a house, we have to bring our supplies with us - none were needed this time, everything we wanted was provided, and more). Everything supplied was of a very high quality. Very comfortable beds, plenty of extra sheets and towels there if needed, Dyson hair dryers, washer and dryer in the boiler room, lots of very cosy armchairs, a library with loads of books, open fire (which we didn't need, as the heating was on 24/7), all four bedrooms are en-suite, and tons of hot water always available, all four bedrooms also have TVs too. Upstairs there is another massive room, with a huge TV at one end, a table tennis table, snooker table, games console and a desk looking out to sea. The house was spotless when we arrived, and Anne was there to greet us and show us around - very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She also came to see us off on our last day. We were a party of six adults (and two dogs), and we stayed for seven nights, but all of us were disappointed that we had not booked for longer. If you get a chance to to to Whitehorse House - do it!! You won't regret it.

Annie's Cottage is a gem of a thatched cottage to stay in!

We recently spent two weeks in this beautiful cottage. It is ideally situated in the centre of Country Mayo, making trips to Achill Island, Mayo's north and west coasts and trips to Galway City in the next county easy to reach. It is spacious, very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and even though we stayed in August, we had the odd chilly day but we were warm and comfortable with the underfloor heating, radiators and log burning fire. There were plenty of fresh linen and towels available and after our first week we were brought more in case they were needed. Annie's Cottage has two kitchens and both are stocked with ample pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, with plenty of storage for any shopping should you do a lot of eating in, as we do and there are two fridges, one with a large freezer. The cottage has a large, beautiful garden with table, chairs and a bbq and it was lovely sitting out in the evening catching the last of the sun with a glass of wine. The owners, Jim and Mai, are a lovely couple and live close by. They were the perfect hosts and had a welcome gift for us when we arrived and provided us with fresh eggs from their farm during our stay. We can honestly say that Annie's Cottage is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and will definitely book the cottage again when we next holiday in the beautiful and scenic Country Mayo. The view from this house is spectacular, the photos really do not do it justice.

We loved the fact we could bring the dog - thank you Theresa and Bernard - it is so hard funding somewhere to stay where we can bring the family pet. The house is very comfortable, you can tell it is newly built. We found it no problem, but that was doing a google street view beforehand and with a bit of detective work. locating the area where the house was built as street view has not been updated since 2011. The house is in a remote spot, but definitely worth it. The website is slightly misleading to say it is the town of Dungloe (which is a 15 min drive away) it is outside a small village called Maghery. There are no shops and one bar. The "cafe" unfortunately closed for the summer while we were there (last week in August) so we did not get a chance to try it. We went to Arranmore Island, Narin Beach, Portnoo and Glenveagh National Park. All worth a visit, though would definitely recommend Glenveagh on a dry day! My only minor quibble with the house would be the lack of kitchen accessories for cooking - no grater, kitchen scissors, oven gloves, however I'm sure Bernard and Theresa will remedy that. Dungloe has an Aldi and Lidl and another supermarket on the main street/corner of Cope St which had a lovely bakery. House would benefit from a BBQ! Looking forward to booking next year, however we see it is already fully booked July 2020 - very disappointed.

Beautiful modern bungalow with stunning panoramic view Comfortable beds and sofas and well equipped kitchen (if 6 guests stayed, we would definitely need more crockery).

It was a lovely holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The standard of the cottage was very good and it was spacious full of light. The dog also loved the cottage and the garden and was fascinated by the wandering little lawnmower. However, their were a couple of little niggles for a 5 star rated cottage which I will mention as honest feedback. I would normally expect a welcome pack, with some milk, local eggs etc, with a welcome letter on the table. This is always a nice touch, and very gratefully received when you can't immediately get to a local shop. The kitchen was well equipped with lots of glasses, cups, teapot etc but many were not within easy reach for my wife and there was no stepping stool. Also, there were a few light bulbs which needed replaced and I know that most housekeepers would check this at changeover. Finally, it would have been nice to have the electric gate working to prevent visiting sheep 'fertilising' the lawn and driveway. However, none of these things would stop us returning or giving a good recommendation.

The cottage while dog friendly inside did not have a gate and were using bins to keep dogs in and could easily jump over them or get out between the wheels: The house while it provided everything and good location it needed windows cleaned badly and couches were not comfortable and the mattresses needed replacing on beds the springs are coming through: car parking is not good as it’s hit and miss and if your bringing luggage dogs or if you had children you have to park on double lines to get near the door:there is a lawn which could be used to make a car space and still have garden space: The slugs come in under the door at night as the back door has a space and they get in The washing machine door wouldn’t open and although l rang the owner they were to get the door fixed they didn’t and l didn’t get a call back or any update and still didn’t:had to leave the washing in it when we left While the house is a fine house it’s tired and needs a revamp and better communication:The photo advertising it is a very old one
