What our customers say about their holidays
Terence - Verified booking
After driving and being on the road for over eight hours, we finally arrived at the cottage.
We had just boiled the kettle when we received a phone call from the owner of the cottage initial of thinking they were phoning to welcomers instead she was phoning us to reprimand and threaten us, the very ignorant neighbours had phoned her to complain that we were encroaching on her property. We were not made aware that that was an access road only and we had to immediately park on the very small gated drive. On the phone call the owner did not enquire about our drive welcomes to the cottage or thank us for booking. She just said you need to move your car. Youâre encroaching on the neighbours property otherwise youâll have to park on the road. We were so shocked my husband felt like getting in the car and driving another nine hours to take us back to the north of England, I would be kind to say that the property was very tired however it was dirty. The carpets were filthy. Curtains were dirty. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall the wardrobe panel I had to screw back on because that was also hanging off they were Maltesers , stuff down the side of the dirty leather corner suite rug in front of the fire had a burn mark on it and it was really filthy. The corners turned up and frame which could be a trip hazard pulled one of the tables out to rest our drinks on and it was real sticky and dirty it felt like there was something under the rug when I walked on it lifted it up and there were bits of wood and bits of plastic game pieces or toys under there so clearly this is a regular thing. Itâs systemic. Only one good thing to say the beds were comfortable, but because the cottage was so filthy, I stripped them back to check mattresses and things because I did not want to sleep , on a dirty bed as I said the bed was fine. I do require somebody from Sykes cottages to get back to me as soon as possible

I was misled in the booking process.
I think the details will be logged. We did manage to sort it out with some compromise but it was inconvenient I have been on many good quality self catering holidays and so my comments are an informed comparison with other cottages and companies I have stayed with. The house itself was clean and warm. It was functional but didn't have any of the extras I would expect for the price we paid. Calling the house a cottage is misleading because the house is in a modern cul de sac of standard properties. My main complaint was the size of the third bedroom, about 6 by 5 foot with a bunk bed that took all the space. As the 5th single adult I had to sleep on the top bunk because my adult children were in couples and couldn't be expected to use that room. This needs to be made much clearer on the details and reflected in the price.Lots of small things; No bin liners, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets.Unclear rubbish disposal instructions. No details about local supermarket. Details all 2015. Home owner contacted me directly with a list of "rules" about 2 weeks before our visit. Some were irrelevant, like dog instructions. Also instructed us to strip the beds which I decided was unreasonable given the amount we were paying. The location was good although I was disappointed we didn't have sea view. I asked for a sea view on the Sykes cottage selection page The house is a 20 minute walk down/up hill into town which needs to be made clear. We did have a good holiday and I would return to Saundersfoot and Tenby. I would not go back to the house since I dont believe it was value for money.

Little Bobbins gave us a great location for a week away.
Good beaches closeby and you can walk to Saundersfoot. Turning right out of the drive is tight and the property is right on main road and train line at the bottom of the garden but that didnât bother us too much. The property didnât fully match the description - for example things like itâs semi detached not detached (although we didnât see or hear the neighbours once), photos had curtains but the property doesnât have them in place now, just blinds which are ineffective for summer mornings and evenings. Not sure the double room is a King size bed and as a family of four (three adults and one child) we think the space was ok for us but might be too small for a group of six. The property is well equipped but the cleanliness was poor, we had to clean a lot of the kitchen utensils before using them (took photos when we arrived) and some of the equipment has seen better days. We enjoyed our stay but didnât match the rating for us and feel the property needs some updating and maintenance.

Cottage was very nice but there were a few things that could be improved: 1.
Lots of rubbish & recycling not collected ; Plastic containers & bottles strewn round the garden along with paper which we picked up. There was also lots of wine & glass bottles on the floor falling out of 2 plastic bags. There was 2 bags of rubbish in the general rubbish bin also. We did inform the owner. 2. There were cats everywhere - on the doorstep, in the back garden & also lying on our car out the front. 3. We came back one day & there was a van parked in our space no 5 however after a short while it was moved. 4. The king size bed was really uncomfortable as it sunk when we got in - it gave us no support so resulted in giving us back ache the next day. The pillows were too thin so gave us neck ache too. Suggest a brand new mattress & decent pillows are required. The holiday on the whole was ok and the cottage was situated close to amenities and a great base to start from when visiting other areas.

The house was spotlessly clean and the housekeeper lives 2 doors away, which would have made any issues easy to resolve had we had them.
We were greeted with milk and toilet rolls, which was thoughtful. We made contact with the owner as the heating didnât seem to be coming on and it was resolved in a matter of minutes by a quick simple text message. Very happy with the welcome and the response. Lovely and warm thereafter in the cool weather. Felt like the carpets had just been replaced, which was also nice under foot.. Third bedroom was quite small, with bunks, so only really suitable for young children but the outside space much bigger than it looks on the photographs - just note that there are a few steps to the property from the reserved parking space, in case of mobility issues.
