  My overwhelming memory of staying here is how disappointed we were to find we had literally been left the bare minimum possible and had to go out almost as quickly as we'd turned up.

  Not want you want on a cold winters evening, in a place you know nothing about. It was new years break, so of course, it would have been lovely to have a bottle of fizz in the fridge or at least something to mark the big occasion, there was nothing. Ok, not something we've historically encountered, but that was a 'nice to have'. What isn't a nice to have is the basics. We were literally left the bare bones to get us through our immediate arrival - a sachet of milk each....? A tea bag... less than a coffee sachet each....? I couldn't believe it. A couple of pints is only £1 and could've seen us through til morning. A loaf of bread, a block of butter. We weren't left ANYTHING to wipe down surfaces or clean up after ourselves. No sponge, kitchen roll, dishcloth or anything in this regard. 2 rolls of toilet tissue between 6 people, 2 dishwasher tablets, no bin bags other than the one which was in situ. It all felt really basic and minimal and if I'm honest...tight. It wasn't a cheap stay, but it was made to feel cheap by the lack of welcome we felt we had as a family. 6 of us staying from Wednesday until Saturday. It wouldn't have cost much at all, but would've made such a positive impact. The only other feedback I can offer is that if you are unable to make the super king into 2 beds on a short notice booking this needs to be conveyed to guests before they book. This was imperative for us, so when we arrived to find the bed still as a superking it was a problem. I wouldnt have boked the property if I had known this. Not hearing back from Adrian was also disappointing, I had assumed that all was fine, given that he didnt get in touch with me as he said he would. Such a shame

  This is a fabulous house in an amazing location! It’s next door to The Ship at the bottom of Porlock Hill, and 2 doors in the other direction is the amazing Whortleberry Tea Rooms. And there’s a small Spa a few yards down on the opposite side of the road. The house has 5 great bedrooms, with inc.... This is a fabulous house in an amazing location! It’s next door to The Ship at the bottom of Porlock Hill, and 2 doors in the other direction is the amazing Whortleberry Tea Rooms. And there’s a small Spa a few yards down on the opposite side of the road. The house has 5 great bedrooms, with incredibly comfortable beds, 3 lovely shower rooms (2 upstairs, 1 downstairs), one of which has a beautiful bath. Downstairs there’s a very comfy lounge, play/TV room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. It really is huge, and it retains much of its original character. The patio area is lovely and a real sun trap with lots of outdoor furniture. The lawns have been left wild for the birds and bees so the garden isn’t really useable but the patio is big enough. We had a brilliant week staying here in June and would definitely go back.

  Holmdale is a beautiful large cottage at one end of a wonderful village. It was clean and tidy when we arrived and didn't take much to keep it so. We really appreciated that there was a washing machine and dryer available and a massive kitchen and dining room with AGA. The house was very roomy, eve.... Holmdale is a beautiful large cottage at one end of a wonderful village. It was clean and tidy when we arrived and didn't take much to keep it so. We really appreciated that there was a washing machine and dryer available and a massive kitchen and dining room with AGA. The house was very roomy, even for 9 of us. There was also a hoover available and all bedding. The house is positioned at the bottom of Porlock hill, so cars can drive past dangerously quickly, which is a problem especially if there are small children in the party. There is a great pub next door and plenty to do, including walks over the coastal walk and salt marsh. All in all, this was a great, value for money option in a wonderful area of the country and I thoroughly recommend a stay.

  Lovely house with lots of character. Comfortable and clean. Well equipped. Bathrooms very smart. Nice outdoor sitting area. Great location, close to coast and moors. Plenty of shops,cafes, pubs in Porlock and only 15 mins from Minehead. House is located a few minutes walk to heart of village. House .... Lovely house with lots of character. Comfortable and clean. Well equipped. Bathrooms very smart. Nice outdoor sitting area. Great location, close to coast and moors. Plenty of shops,cafes, pubs in Porlock and only 15 mins from Minehead. House is located a few minutes walk to heart of village. House is located right on the main through road so quite a bit of traffic noise - we didn’t find it a problem at all but worth to be aware of. Recommend to pop into tourist information office just across the road from the house as we found the lady very helpful and gave us several ideas for what to do. Recommend trips to Lynmouth / Lynton, Porlock weir (walkable), Dunster Castle/ Dunster village, Minehead. Dunkers Hill and Tarr steps recommended for walks on Exmoor.

  Lovely house, very well equipped. The amount of toys, books and DVDs for the kids was a very nice surprise! Really good location for amazing walks. We had some yummy cheeses, orange juice and breakfast goodies waiting for us which was a very nice touch. It's a very quiet area, the playground i.... Lovely house, very well equipped. We had some yummy cheeses, orange juice and breakfast goodies waiting for us which was a very nice touch. It's a very quiet area, the playground is a hidden gem - usually it was just us there - and there are plenty of nice walks around from beach to villages to climbing hills. Take your walking shoes as they will make some of the walks a lot easier! I would suggest you take some washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and toilet paper with you as there's not enough left at the house and almost every shop is closed on Sundays.
