Lower Slaughter is a village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England, 4 miles south west of Stow-on-the-Wold.The village is built on both banks of the River Eye, a slow-moving stream crossed by two footbridges, which also flows through Upper Slaughter. At the west end of the village there is a 19th-century water mill with an undershot waterwheel and a chimney for additional steam power. There is a ford where the river widens in the village and several small stone footbridges join the two sides of the community. A mill is recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086 on the site of The Old Mill. In the 14th Century it had begun to be known as Slaughter Mill and is open to the public to view today. Lower Slaughter is home to the pretty church of St Mary. The church and its impressive spire were re-built in 1867 but some arches between the nave and the south aisle date back to the thirteenth century while the church of St Peter's, in Upper Slaughter, is a historic Norman church with parts dating from the 12th century .

There were six of us spending the Christmas holiday and we couldn't have been happier or more comfortable. Decorating within is beautiful and beds were made with lovely duvets and coverlets. And each bedroom is ensuite. More than ample cookware and tableware is provided. We had a small issue with the toaster and a new one was delivered within an hour or two, proving that response to any problem will be handled swiftly. The surrounding village is magical and the cottage is well positioned for further exploration of the Cotswold area. This property is truly extraordinary. We have been to many holiday rentals in the Cotswolds over the years and this one surpasses all of them. Definitely an amazing holiday!

It's located in one of the best areas in the Cotswolds, it's traditional Cotswold built, it has great facilities including fab lounge, kitchen / diner & 3 en suite bedrooms AND a downstairs toilet! It's warm, cost & we felt at home within an hour of arriving. We would not hesitate to recommend it,vit is one of the best places we have stayed 5*

Beds were comfortable, kitchen had extensive range of cutlery and utensils. Nice central location to visit all the Cotswolds towns within 20 mins drive max and quiet road. Nice secluded garden. We enjoyed our stay, even on a rainy day.
