The Cottage is set in the heart of Keswick and for those of you who know the area well, you won’t be surprised to find that you can access everything this vibrant market town has to offer on foot. Walking from the property, you will reach Fitz Park, which offers a great area to exercise your four-legged friends. Continue along the riverside and in just 5 minutes, 500 yards, you will hit the bustling town centre, which is brimming with great restaurants, pubs serving local craft ales, an excellent range of shopping experiences and some memorable tourist attractions. If you want family fun then visit The Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil, ¾ mile away, or visit Puzzling Place, which is full of mind-boggling optical illusions, ½ mile away. If you like culture, you have to try the Theatre by the Lake, with its enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater, it offers award-winning performances in drama and arts, and is just ¾ mile away. If you like walking or cycling, you are surrounded by some of the most challenging and iconic fells in the area, as well as a number of less challenging walking routes suitable for families. On arrival we were very disappointed to find the cottage in need of a thorough clean.The lock on the bathroom door does not work, neither does the hoover, main light in the living room has only one bulb working, the sofas and dining room chairs uncomfortable and for the first time in 25 years of staying in a holiday cottage in the lakes there was no Christmas tree or welcome pack.The cottage however is perfectly situated just a short walk from Keswick through Fitz park. Although I envision parking difficulties at the height of the season we didn’t have a problem.As it stands, we would not recommend or return, however if the aforementioned issues were resolved we would, due to the perfect location.

Excellent cottage everything that is required is provided cottage was clean, cottage. however it was very cold when we arrived heating was turned right down took the rest of the evening to get to a comfortable temperature, the only other minor problem is that there is no parking around the cottage, the only parking was busy, the garage is only big enough for a small car this wasn’t a major concern as we managed to get parked and didn’t use the car over our stay, may be a bigger issue if you arrive with two cars or busier summer periods, all in all would throughly recommend the cottage, cottage is close enough to walk into Keswick and local park, Keswick railway path is just outside the back of the house and easily accessible

We have stayed in Jane Eyre’s cottage several times now. It is very comfortable and situated perfectly close to the centre of Keswick. Perfect for us and our dog. We have booked again for next year!
