Guests say

Nu-Holme is a well-regarded cottage in Windermere, praised for its excellent location and traditional charm. Guests appreciate the functional space, warm atmosphere, and dog-friendly policy. It's equipped with essentials, including a well-stocked kitchen and entertainment options, despite some dated decor. The central location near shops and eateries is a highlight, although the lack of outdoor space is noted. Overall, it's considered great value for a comfortable family stay.

Reviews consistently describe Nu-Holme as clean, with no negative comments on cleanliness, indicating high standards are maintained.

The cottage's location is frequently praised for being central and convenient, within walking distance to local amenities and attractions.

Guests find the cottage cosy and warm, with comfortable beds and a welcoming feel, although one review mentioned an issue with the shower temperature.

Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and extras like games and DVDs. However, some guests suggest updates are needed, particularly for modern entertainment options.

While guests appreciate the well-stocked kitchen and entertainment options, there are no specific mentions of gifts, so it's not possible to assess thoughtfulness in this context.

A traditional cottage in this ever popular town, Nu-Holme is situated in a quiet street in central Windermere. The property has been lovingly refurbished and recently further updated by its owners.

Nu-Holme provides comfortable accommodation for either two couples or a family, having a living area downstairs and a separate sitting room upstairs for those guests who may like some quiet time.

It is well-equipped for those who wish to self cater although numerous takeaways, restaurants, cafes and bars are within easy walking distance, together with a supermarket, the famous Lakeland store and all local shops and amenities. Another local supermarket is also less than one minute’s walk away and is open late.

Nu-Holme is ideal for those travelling on public transport with both railway and bus stations close by providing excellent services. Frequent local buses travel to Bowness (by the lake), Ambleside, Grasmere, Kendal and Keswick.

The two parking permits provided are also a great benefit to visitors as parking in the Lake District can sometimes be difficult. One is a residents permit which allows parking on all nearby streets. The other permit being a Council permit for free parking in numerous car parks in Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside and Kendal, the nearest of which is less than one minute’s walk away from Nu-Holme, a distinct advantage in busy periods.

’There is no garden, however there is a park within a 5-minute’s walk where dogs can be let off the lead.

Nu-Holme is fantastic value and in a good location, it was our second time there and will be going back on our next lakes visit. Its is fitted out with traditional pine furniture and is a very functional place to stay, has a warm feel to it and plenty of space for a small family and is dog friendly. It has parking permits for near by villages including Ambleside, as well as on an street parking permit, It has easy access to all Windermere's shops, restaurants and bars and these are all in walking distance to Nu Holme. It is not super modern in it styling/decor so if this is a priority for you then it might not suit but it is clean and has every thing you need for a comfortable holiday in the lakes and is great value for money.

Couldn't fault our stay - perfect location and never had a problem getting parked even over a weekend. Loved the second lounge upstairs which we made use of every evening. Perfect cottage for walkers as lots of hooks for hanging outdoor kit and a tiled floor on the ground floor makes it easier after a day in the fells.
